    Hi all;

My first post here at Political Forum. I believe that we have lost our Republic to the ultra-wealthy, giant corporations, wall street, etc.

Agree? Disagree? Neve thought about it?

(I didn't find anything on this topic with the search function. Which seemed strange so maybe I'm not using it correctly.)

Do we really need a republic controlled by professional politicians? How about full emancipation? Imagine there's no countries as John Lennon asked us to do:

Tommy, I don't have answers to your questions. I have tried to imagine "no countries" and "no religion too". I nice mental exercise but not something that is attainable at this time.

Peridochas, because no one even gets on the ballot in a national election without very wealthy doners. And once they get into office they will vote the way their wealthy doners tell them or they won't be re-elelected. Then when they leave government they get multimillion dollar jobs on k street. I watched a very interesting video yesterday on Youtube of an interview of Jack Abramoff by Laurence Lessig. Abramoff explains exactly how lobbying in washington works. It wasn't a surprise but good to hear it from a reformed insider.

Imagine is a type of Rorschach test for young to middle aged music lovers.

If you think it is a roadmap you are a liberal.

If you think it is an unworkable utopian fantasy spawned by a 30 something aged liberal without anyone who was able to talk sense to him before he penned the song, you are a Conservative.

World government is worse than the current situation, although a lack of religion would be nice.

I kind of agree. I believe this article sums it up nicely.

    http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2009/05/the-quiet-coup/307364/

When the financial sector becomes a significant driver of your economy and the risks of investment banking spill over to commercial banking, this only encourages further wealth disparity than we already have.

This also allows bankers to run the system without any real accountability to the public.

This is a tremendous sig message. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."

    --C. S. Lewis, God in the Dock, p. 292.

I mostly agree with this, although it says quite a bit about the theocratic tendencies of many voters.

Oh look ... You have 3695 post and still an immature turd.
As well as the fact you comment more on what other people say ... Rarely expound much on what your personal interpretations are ... And think you are witty and wise for doing so because you use a hair more than 20 words.

Bravo ... That is pretty good for a pre-schooler ... And you can be proud of yourself for making such a wonderful impression on our guest.

    On Topic:
I Agree we are losing the Republic ... And it pretty much can be traced back to the point we started calling it a Democracy.
In any case ... I don't know that it is anything new.

In reference to the people you think we are losing the Republic to ... I guess you can take your pick on the long-term.
You can lose it to people who provide for themselves ... Or to people who need to be provided for.
There is a lot of different ways each person looks at that assessment ... But there was only one way that the Founding Fathers agreed we should look at it.

I have to say that they didn't all agree on everything ... But they were able to agree on some things.

Maybe John Lennon advocated some kind of world government, but I'm talking about total emancipation. Individual liberty. Every man a king, and every woman and transgender female a queen.

The poster did say he was 11, do you realize that? That puts him in the sixth grade. This is who is in our forum asking political questions. And you have a problem with me telling a pre-pubescent to go somewhere else???

I don't know if I agree with Mr. Lewis but I hope the choice dosen't have to be between types of tyranny.

Although you do have a point, that Campaign Finance regulations and regulations enforcement need to be changed, the most significant thing about your post is the fact that you have skipped over the more seriously pressing issue of all.

We are playing the role of the regulated society which submits to and worships Big Brother in the chilling book/film "1984".

And what role does BOB see himself? As Big Brother.

But answer me this: who reads the book, "1984" and identifies with THE VILLAIN?

The same guy who palls around with and does numerous business deals with a convicted felon, Tony Rezko.

The same guy who announces his run for the Presidency from the living room of a former domestic terrorist, Bill Ayers.

The same guy whose friends were usually Commies and revolutionaries.

    Barack Hussein Obama.

A world without government would be nice too, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

A world with minimal government is possible though.

Yeah ... It can be pretty funny sometimes ... people are a hoot around here.

Yo Peanut ... You still haven't debated anything in regards to the topic ... You still haven't done anything but comment on what other people have said ... You still haven't expounded on your personal interpretations ... and you still can't seem to use more than minor amount of words to express the absolute nothing you have to contribute.

All I can do is encourage you to keep on ... Give the guest some laughs and some good experience with the likes of you.
Once he sees what you are made ... He can better decide how to handle the garbage.
