As some of you may know, Paula Deen famed for her Southern cooking skills, has be wrapped in contiversity (main stream media) the last couple days, over her use of the N word. It all came to light in a racial discrimination suit filed against one of her restaurants. Earlier today, she made a public apology via Youtube. This afternoon, The Food Network cut her loose. Paula Deen ~ My N-Word Excuse ...I'm Old http://www.tmz.com/2013/06/20/paula-deen-n-word-excuse-im-old/ - - - Updated - - - Ah come on RR, you know you want to discuss it. lol
I am not a fan.. but I am sorry to see her go down in flames over something so perfectly tacky and dumb.
Her second Youtube apology today....
Probably not going to have too many posts on it because its not the type of narrative the most vocal here worry about. Reverse the situation and substitute Paula with someone black or brown, then this will become top rated thread.
No problem with FOOD firing her, thats perfectly with in their rights. Not very smart in these days. But I hope the lady suing gets nothing.
The 1st Amendment only protects you from the GOVERNMENT restricting your speech. Private entities can do it as they see fit.
Telling the truth under oath is an old fashion notion. She should have lied like modern politically correct people do. Bill Clinton committed perjury and he's doing fine. Dee DEE lied under oath too. The lesson is that you lie and conform or get crushed by the Establishment.
The lack of real damage from hearing the word "n" word. No more then you should be able to sue me for me telling you to (*)(*)(*)(*) off.
When I saw her interview and did more research it was obvious that she doesn't have a clue about how she has harmed others. It was pr bs. She is the typical older southern white lady who has been caught. And she has no nice heart. You can't be a nice person and think you're better than another race.
It seems a bit extreme of the Food Network to fire her because of her admission that she use racially insensitive language years ago but as a private entity firing her is their right.
