I knew this was going happen sooner than later. In fact, not too long ago I posted numerous times about metal laser sintering 3-D printers. Gun Control is officially dead. Texas company makes metal gun with 3-D printer
No, just wait. The gun manufacturers that support NRA are going to backlash against this to save their profits. Watch gun control legislation magically materialize.
Printed unregistered guns are still illegal. Go ahead and print one with no serial number no registration of any kind, see what happens.
80% lowers for AR-15s don't have a serial number. The lower receiver is legally defined as the gun. You can get the 80% lower, mill it out yourself, then buy all the other parts for the rifle and build it yourself. Thus you get an unregistered gun without a serial number legally. That might vary in some states, but on a federal level it's legal. If a gun company manufactures an AR-15 lower themselves without a serial number THAT is illegal as per the 1968 gun control act.
I got $10 for the first moron that is willing to fire a 3D printed gun. Anyone willing to try? Anyone? That being said, I think that what you actually need currently is a CNC with a cad/cam program. 3D printers use stl files, which have massive facets all over them.
How would they rifle the barrel? Indeed, how would they make Spring steel for the springs such a gun requires, that takes heat treating, I think.
For the barrel I suppose they could print from muzzle to breech. The springs in the above gun weren't printed though. If they do print springs in the future I imagine heat treating can be easy enough for someone who knows metallurgy.
It's called disposable. Just because a law is in place it doesn't necessarily stop anything simply by existing. What this shows is how lame gun laws are. If somebody wants a gun bad enough there is always a way of getting them. Laws are sort of like locks, they just keep honest people honest. Only exception is stupid laws, then most people ignore them. Did you know, you are not allowed to whistle under water in Vermont? That is probably more effective than most gun laws.
This is incorrect. Anyone can legally make a gun from scratch as long as they abide by all Federal and State laws. To avoid looking like a fool, please know what the heck you are talking about before you post.
You must be licensed to own a firearm in any state. To avoid looking like a fool please know what the heck you are talking about before you post.
No license is required to own a firearm in Colorado. To purchase one you must undergo a brief background check.
Your statement that a license is required to own a firearm in all states is incorrect. A "banned list", whatever that is, or printing a firearm have nothing to do with your incorrect statement.
http://www.dezeen.com/2013/11/08/worlds-first-3d-printed-metal-gun-manufactured-by-solid-concepts/ This wasn't the first one.
From the OP: It is printed rifled. 3D printers are awesome. http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/...the-first-3d-printed-gun-with-a-rifled-barrel DRM is about to infect the (*)(*)(*)(*) out of 3d printing. Look for very bad legislation coming shortly.
Wrong again. Here in Oregon and most states for that matter you don't need any licensing to own a gun. Go back to call of duty or whatever piece of Hollywood filth you learned your fake gun facts from.
Pot's illegal, and how many stoners do you think actually care? - seriously Nothing's going to happen - gun control is now obsolete - deal with it
MolonLabe2009 Maybe you should tell folks where your name comes from. Maybe I am the only one who knows.
They will just require all 3D printer owners be licensed by the state to own one. And if what you say is indeed true, then republicans can be blamed for every single mass shooting from now on.
