Me neither.

It "times out" just a bit too coincidentially with Rick "Oops" Perry's "Ted was bad...no he wasn't....okay, he was a little bad" comments about Nugents slur.

Rand knows that he's running in 2016 for Prez...and that Perry is....so any little bit of goosing that Rand can give Perry, make him look like he's a nutter or Obama Deranged racist...or both in Nugent's case.....helps Rand make the case that HE (RP) is "open-minded and not hateful".

As you note, he's given to stunts......so it takes some bit of faith to think that Rand is doing the right thing in this case...for the right reason. But let's be generous and give him the benefit of the doubt.

BTW, LoneStr....have you actually offered an opinion yet on the topic?

Is Rand right....or was The Nuge right?

    Meh.

I tell you what though. Some of this forums power users must have solid red back porches. The amount of threads some people make here makes it seem like its their job... I hope thats not it though.

I'm glad some in the GOP are calling him out. This kind of behavior needs to be discouraged if they ever want to win an election again.

Oh, so it's not "fair" to point out how you guys made a big stink out of Clinton not going to Vietnam (especially against two WW-2 vets like Bush-41 and Dole).....

but then going "oddly quiet" when it was 2000 when you were running "Champagne Squadron" Dubya and "Five Deferement" Cheney? or especially in 2004....when you chose the chickenhawk over the guy who had gone to Vietnam and been fired on?

I was only sixteen during the '08 elections, so I don't remember much of the political rhetoric of that time. However, I do agree that Bush received a lot more hate than what he deserved.

Don't be an ass,I never said liberals were protesting, just that you showed NOTHING indicating they were tea party members
As for what I think about what Nugent said?..
    That's none of your business.

I suppose his bipartisan efforts in the Senate to end the NSA's bulk collection of private data is also "political grandstanding", too.

    Priceless. You forgot this classic:

I wonder how many of the progs in high dudgeon around here voted for this racist? I wonder how many of them voted for this racist twice?

    How 'bout you, Gorn?

Good on, Rand Paul. Maybe our "progressive" friends will learn something from his example and stop voting for racists...

Also, wonder why you ran Al 'I did my walk in the elephant grass' Gore,if getting fired on in vietnam was important?

Probably. Paul committed the unpardonable sin of exposing the fact that Obama's commitment to our civil and constitutional rights doesn't extend beyond his own self-serving political grandstanding. Remember how his "evolution" on gay rights occurred around the same time his re-election campaign needed to come up with more cash?

    Underwhelming...

Most GOPers just cringe at this kind of comments, but stay silent about it.
