It is often said, God will defeat Satan and win. Cast satan to where ever, for all eternity. Hell by some religions. My question is: What is it that God wins? According to the abrahamic religions, especially christianity, satan will have many more souls. Satan will never die, but always rule the other world, supposedly hell. So, what exactly is it, that God will win?
Good, of course! He will Triumph over Eeeevil, and peace will once more reign. But if you ask any of them the how's, why's and when's, they'll have no answer. And they'll have no answer for the question of how their god thing will trump evil when their god thing IS evil, of the most undiluted sort. I guess he'll do it (re-establish his special brand of evil goodness) by drowning everyone again, or sending bears to tear our kids to pieces. Given that's most likely how things will play out, you do hope poor old Satan wins. We might then have a chance of actually bringing about peace here on earth - in his own kingdom. They say he rules the earth, so I'm assuming he'll encourage us to look after it a little better than we have done. And perhaps to look after each other better than god had us doing these past 2000 years. Which is to say, very badly.
But those evil folks aren't dead. They still survive, of course in hell. Except according to judasim. Hell(sheol) is judaism isn't the eternal fire pit. So God will take non evil folks to heaven or paradise. Exact place is not known. And according to christians, few will make it there. So evil exists yet, perhaps not on earth, unknown? Satan will have more souls than God. Folks in heaven/paradise lose free will, lose right from wrong. Lose every thing we were put on earth to learn?
which all just makes the satan gig sound better by the minute. and heaven sounds like the s.hittiest holiday EVER. of course, we understand that satan is metaphor for nature (the planet and all upon it), so yeah .... hope god looses
How can God lose or Satan win or vice versa if neither exist? Are all you non-theists on this thread attempting to say that God and Satan do exist and that you are willing to wager on the winner or at least are standing in favor of a hopeful contestant?
What I can't figure out is why did this supposedly omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent entity that is attributed with creating everything, create an adversary of such capability that he has to battle the adversary for the souls of the creatures he created in the first place. If he can't snap his fingers a la Q and the adversary is disappeared, then he isn't ominpotent. If he didn't know this was going to happen then he isn't omniscient and if he created a place for this adversary that he can't go, he ain't omnipresent. Maybe Satan disproves God. These convoluted contradictory myths can certainly be head scratchers.
Actually according to christian beliefs satan won't be ruling hell but will be punished and in torment just like everyone else there. The thing that god is supposed to win is eternal peace and joy for him and his followers.
That is something one has to wonder. Why all this gamesmanship to achieve the very thing that could've been created from day 1. - - - Updated - - - Was it not possible to just create this eternal peace to start with? Is this just a game with humans and angels? - - - Updated - - - The topic is what does God win? Not what the losers are.
I believe the logic behind it was to give man freewill to chose god instead of forcing him to do so. Otherwise it's not really love.
And everybody in Heaven with friends and family in Hell...will be happy? - - - Updated - - - I'm going to give you "Free Will".... Do as I say. If you do, I'll give you a million dollars a year for life. Don't and I'll take you to a dark cell and torture you for the rest of your life. But hey, you have "free will" to choose to do what I want...and which situation you want.
I think I'll write Odin a nasty letter, because what he did to Thor, not letting him pick up his hammer, was just wrong. I'm going to get this (*)(*)(*)(*) straightened out.
In other words, you had no answer to his objections, so you told him to do something that is impossible (i.e. "take it up" with a being who, if he exists, will not answer). Way to pass the buck!
I don't care what his objections are. When Gorn has something intellectual to contribute then I'll acknowledge it but so far all he has ever shown is an interest in trolling.
I have never moved past the logic, if every decision is known before hand, before creation, how is it free will. All things are already known and can't be changed. If God is omniscient.
