So you and I are both in agreement that they just have to stop launching rockets in order for Israel to stop killing them, and now the contention between you and I now only lies in where palestinians came from, right?

My solution is for palestinians to stop launching rockets, how do you get "ethnic cleansing" out of that? Israelis don't have a problem with palestinians being where they are, they have a problem with rockets being launched at the every day. It really is that simple.

Affecting elections in other nations is not justified by suggesting which person might win. And, Israeli officials say the election IS close.

Obama has every right to negotiate with other nations. He has certain responsibilities of notification, but your terminology is not an acceptable characterization.

And, by the way, being proud of having Israel as an ally is NOT the issue here. Being proud of them doesn't give them (or us) a justification for ignoring international law or humanitarian atrocity.

Even the head of the Mossad points out that Israel is a national security problem for the US. And, I suspect he's a supporter of Israel as much as is any American citizen.

"Bibi" is not going to go back to previous territorial lines and Obama is insistent they accept the security risk involved. Since Obama is not in charge of Israel or any of the rest the world he would like to control, he would seem to be the "stupid one" (I'd suggest ignorant).

Your stated preference was for Palestinians to be removed from Palestine - you suggested Jordon. THAT is ethnic cleansing, and it is a crime by international law.

NO, Israel is NOT OK with Palestinians being where they are. They are stealing massive amounts of property owned by Palestinians in West Bank, and it has NOTHING TO DO WITH ROCKETS. In fact, the IDF considers Abbas and his government as their primary partner in peace - trusting his work enough to hand over significant security responsibility to his government. How many US citizens are aware of that?

Israel has stolen so much land that at this point West Bank is divided into a northern island and a southern island. And, Israel has demanded the right to continue stealing land even during "peace" negotiations. Israel has routed the Wall up river valleys to capture water rights and arable land - ignoring the high ground. Claims that this is for security are lies too silly for words. Israel has taken extensive portions of the Jordon river bank (on the opposite side of West Bank from Israel) and is denying Palestinians water rights for agriculture that has been going on from before Israel was a nation.

The idea that the rockets from Gaza are the big issue is just plain nonsense. They were fired in response to Israel's blockade tightening - a blockade that is an act of war.

No rockets are being launched from West Bank.

And, that is making NO difference to the occupation. Israel continues to rule West Bank, subjecting locals to Israeli military law (not civilian law, not to law in which they have any representation, not to courts in which Palestinians carry weight). Israel continues to steal private property and water rights and destroy olive orchards and otherwise destroy the local means of livelihood.

The focus on rockets (which cause almost zero damage) is a total political red herring - even in Gaza.

Do you remember that Americans slaughtered all the Bison to deprive the Plains Indians of sustenance?

The Zionists have destroyed some 800,000 olive trees and wrecked the water table to deprive the Palestinians.. how would YOU react to that?

    - a tenet of peace negotiations has been that there would be border negotiations starting with a specific border. That has been unchanged over the terms of several presidents.

    - Obama hasn't insisted on any new security risks for Israel to take on. The US continues to give Israel massive arms aid and political protection.as well as our promise of military defense.

    - Your whole "would like to control" comment is juvenile.

I seem to recall, supporting several new Government's, Egypt, Libya, Pakistan come to mind and I feel safe in saying we used cash/armor to enforce the choices. By ignoring "Bibi's" invitation to speak to Congress, by Obama is felt to help the opposition in Israel, I might suggest the opposite will be true.

I totally disagree, that Israel is "a national security risk to the US", pointing out a submissive Israel Government" in that area with treaties, agreements, with the US, would be the risk.

Let me assure you! 10 years from now the ink will be starting to dry on BUSH's legacy. 10 years from now the ink will just started being put on paper on OBAMA's. Wanna see which one 'wins' the 'dumb game'?? I'd be happy to lay down bets this very minute!

Overstepped their pay grade? You do realize that they are separate branches of the government and that Boehner and McConnell are the leaders of the two houses that make up the Legislative branch?

Obama is a jackass who has provided relief to America's enemies while snubbing America's allies.

Explain the lack of Israeli aggression during times when the palestinians are not launching rockets then. The palestinians launched rockets for a week before Israel retaliated, and when they did, they warned everybody in the area they were going to hit. Hardly sounds like war crimes to me.

Stop launching rockets and see what happens.

You justify the rockets by saying they hardly do any damage? They do kill, of course you know that. I tell you what, should I ever see you shooting at me or mine with a .177 I'll return fire with a 7.62. Then I'll wait for you to cry about "fair".

The morons didn't kill the Bison to stick it to the Indians, they did it out of greed. Even if I believe you about the olive trees and the water table I don't know how I would react to that, but I can tell you that I wouldn't react by launching rockets at Israel and hiding more in my kid's school! There will be no peace until palestinians learn to love their children more than they hate the Israelis.

No. How is it you "remember" that?

Got any reliable proof of this?
On the other hand a Palestinian hero was stabbing Israelis on a bus the other day. http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way...tabs-at-least-11-israelis-aboard-tel-aviv-bus

The blockade against Gaza is an act of war that has continued for 8 years now. That blockade prevents people from fishing in the waters of Gaza, prevents travel, prevents exports, blocks imports of food, medicine, electrical power, and at present includes the Israeli confiscation of taxes. This comes after Israel smashed Gaza's electrical and water infrastructure, leaving a truly desperate population - with Israel using its political and physical power to limit aid and even assessment.

The property theft and ethnic cleansing in West Bank has continued - even during negotiations and even though Israel sees many of these thefts as being illegal.

We continue to see the Israeli occupation forces ruling West Bank under military law, even using mercenary police who are under only loose control with the people having course of appeal other than through Israeli military courts and having no representation.

Israel continues to take no action on the ceasefire that it signed.

People are dying. Calling what's going on a "lack of Israeli aggression" is about as stupid a comment as I've read on this board.

We mitigated AGAINST the revolution in Egypt up to the point where it was essentially complete. Libya did not get significant US support for a new government. Pakistan gets bought off by US money that is really most oriented to coercing the government to do our bidding - which has at times destabilized the Pakistani government - FAR from supporting it. So, no, you're off the mark on this. We have exerted influence, but our pressure was pretty much self centered.

You disagree with the Mossad chief - LOL! And, nobody is suggesting that Israel be "submissive" - except to international law and basic human decency.

And the war party wing of the Republicans are doing everything possible to cause the negotiations between Iran and the West to fail, so they can have another war. Obama has admitted that the talks have less than a 50% chance of being successful. Even so, it's worth a shot. It's a lot cheaper than another war, which it seems that Netanyau, the religious reactionary right and the NeoCons in Congress are determined to have. We don't have another trillion to spend on another war of choice.

Gaza shoots some rockets, Israel bombs power stations, schools, hospitals, neighborhoods, blocks import of food and medicine, rains bomblets that kill children even years later. The result is slaughtering far more children than the total Israelis who died.

So, what are you talking about?

Israel is 8 years into a war, and you're complaining that one side fired back with about the only weapon they've got as they watch their families starve an get blown to bits.

You have nothing to complain about at this point. If sometime Israel did ANYTHING to promote peace, stop ethnic cleansing, end the occupation, allow Gaza food/water/power and the materials to rebuild their houses, we might have something to talk about.

Right now, Israel is still waging war against Gaza. And, you should be working to cause that to stop.

I guess you are going to pretend to "not know" what hamas does to Israel when given the chance. The palestinians harbor terrorists within their population willingly as doing their part for "the struggle" which is why Israel strikes within civilian areas. Don't want to get hit? Get out of the way. The blockade stays until palestinians can act like humans in the 21st century.

The Israelis even warn the population they are about to strike the area and you sit there and try to convince me they are monsters. The UN has made their decision regarding Israel, if you and the palestinians don't like the outcome, then you should spend time and effort into appealing to the UN instead of martyring your kids to gain "world sympathy".

I remember talking with people who held similar opinions and the only result that would satisfy them was Israel's complete dissolution. Is this also your opinion? Should Israel disappear?

Like I said, appeal to the UN. The hell that the palestinians live in is their own fault. They should grow up.

The government of Abbas, which covers Palestine, is dedicated to non-violence and has the trust of the IDF in that - they say the Palestinian government is a key alley in security.

Hamas is in three parts. The government of Gaza has signed on to the unity government - which includes a pledge of nonviolence and the objective of coexistence with Israel as a permanent nation. Hamas signed on as their position has been quite weak - they did so even though Hamas got zero seats in the unity government.

The armed group of Hamas fighters in Gaza are only loosely associated with the Hamas government in Gaza.

The Hamas group that killed the kids in West Bank is centered in Turkey and does not even inform the Gazan groups of what it is doing, nor do they talk about objectives, methods or strategy. They are a problem for the Gazan groups.

Netanyahu thought that Gazans were responsible for the crime in West Bank, so he punished Gaza. But, it is clear he was wrong. AND, collective punishment is an illegal act in the first place.

    Warning the population?

That's been proven to be abject BS for several reasons. When you drop leaflets on a hospital, how can you possibly evacuate in short time? The same goes for apartment buildings when the leaflets come to little before the bombs - after all, the Israelis point out, they don't want the bad guys to have time to evacuate.

Plus, where were they to go? Israel bombed the evacuation points as well. Plus, when multiple points in the same area are being bombed, evacuation is a death sentence.

What Israel is doing to Gaza and to West Bank is by definition not 21st century behavior.

That's why we have LAWS against what they are doing.

    - - - Updated - - -

Look at the death count. Israel slaughtered more children that the total Israeli casualties - which were almost entirely military.
