Both guns and chainsaws are just tools. Personally I'd give chainsaws the edge in being more dangerous. Easy enough to get a widow maker on your head. Not so easy to shoot yourself. This comparison is based on rational sober human beings. I've used both routinely my entire adult life and even before and never been hurt by either. And no I'm not special, just aware. Kudos to you fresh air. I'm well aware of of your views on these issues. We may disagree on most everything else but you get some heavy points for your understanding of basic freedoms,,,wether you want those freedoms for yourself or not. I respect that.
I live in a pretty safe small town, not much in the way of crime here, if I lived in a area with gangs and the like, I would probably learn how to use a gun and own one, just where I live I have never felt the need, but I think the option should always be there and it should be my choice, I think I am also safer as criminals do not know if I own a gun or not, if they are banned, they know I do not own a gun if no one owns guns but cops and criminals, were not safer as a society imo prohibition of guns is as pointless as prohibition of drugs and alcohol, neither works in real life .
Shot for shot guns are mostly used for sporting purposes. Their existence may offend you but so far there is no enumerated right guaranteeing you to never be offended.
Illegal guns? Not the subject of this discussion. They will remain illegal. Being black does not make you a murderer because you have a tool by which to commit such, just by the way. Illegal gun in a young black males hands in the inner city does raise the statistical likelihood of wrongdoing... however being a young black man in an inner city I would like the ability to legally possess a firearm, as the statistics would not fare in my favor against gang activity etc... would be great if I weren't forced to be a criminal to protect myself and my family. As to the former question, were you aware that MOST gun deaths are suicides? Were you further aware that north of 60% of those suicides are elderly? I believe in your right to meet death on your own terms, and not fade in agonizing pain, unable to keep from (*)(*)(*)(*)ting yourself. You're welcome.
Maybe you should run for president? you are as able as any of them. Guns kill. bullets are supposed to harm living things. they have no other use. When it comes to protecting yourself, the best defense is to be unarmed, as, it would be better to lay down in front of the person with the gun and mask, yes? if you want to protect yourself with a gun, you might wander downtown and hang out in alleys or something, then you would be able to protect yourself against assailants. Okay, let's be petty? Sandy hook and that other degenerate shooting would not have happened if there were stricter gun laws, and, not at all if there was a ban on weapons like guns. - - - Updated - - - Isn't that animal cruelty? - - - Updated - - - The killing of animals.
It would be at this point the ACLU defends guns. - - - Updated - - - Why? I had to pass a drug test to pay for those food stamps. - - - Updated - - - Because we see old folks mowing down people every day, right?
So your a vegan. Are plants not living? Let me give you a hint about the human species. Are your eyes in the front or side of your head? Don't deny nature.
We are told they government does not have the man power to roundup illegal aliens, now you are suggesting they go door to door to criminals house and say p k ease give me your gun. I am guessing that will not work.
Well... we are omnivores. We eat once living things to survive. Thats how nature works. Cooking and eating meat is how we developed these big brains that I use to build technology, and you use to anthropomorpize food. I am able to protect myself and my family from assailants anywhere. From criminals who would attack my home, from terrorists who would do harm to my countrymen, and from a starving bear who wanders upon you and I singing kumbaya in the woods to prevent "human cruelty".
Don't let him fool you. He eats fish, and will have some hilarious rationalization for it. Eggs too I bet.
Okay, Guns use bullets to kill people. are they a good thing? if they are a good thing, then you might say that killing people is a good thing, yes? of course not! There is no need to go into the bear country to look for trouble from bears. in this instance it would be better to play dead, yes? We are all parasites - everything is a parasite off the sun. Why do you need to defend yourself? is it because they have guns?
1. This is a logical non-sequitur. 2. Killing SOME people is a good thing. Serial child molesters should die. They cannot be fixed, and they leave in their wake a brutalized group. Pol Pot and Hitler should have been killed. It would result in a net gain of life... that stuff you pretend to care about. 3. I am free to go wherever I like. Camping in my part of Virginia means bears. You can play dead if you like, I will fire into the ground. That should scare him off. If not I will group shots around the eyes. There is a great documentary about a (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)bag who thinks he understands bears. Spoiler... he dies. It's hilarious. 4. Well... OK... then we are parasites... what is your point? 5. I will defend myself against any armed attack. Knives, ninjas... whatever. My elderly mother will defend herself as well, from any sort of attacker. There is a reason the Colt was called the great equalizer. I get it, you want to waive a magic wand and remove all metal from the earth. That would just fix everything in your belief. That belief is stupid. I am curious... do you know what the worst school massacre in the US ever was?
[1] I don't know what that is. does it matter? [2] Killing some people is good, i totally agree, but, what about those others that die? it is like turning away all shoppers because some of them steal. [3] Why don't you go into down town allies and look for trouble there? why do people pull other people off the beach when there are sharks? [4] Who cares about where our eyes are then? [5] It is better for you to get beat up than another person to die.
1. Yes. 2. I again point out that MOST gun deaths in the US are suicides, and that I support your right to die on your own terms. Your argument now becomes inverted. YOU want to throw the baby out with the bath water. 3. I am not looking for trouble because I am prepared for it. It's a boyscout thing. You wouldn't understand. 4. Because there is reason behind it, whether or not you perceive it. 5. It is better you don't go beating people up, because you never know when one is armed.
[1] Whatever. [2] It is illegal to kill yourself, so, you are a criminal supporter, yes? are you spreading the ideals of suicide now? [3] Then kids should be able to take guns to school, to protect themselves, yes? [4] Okay, we are carnivore herbivore omnivore hybrids. makes no difference. [5] Then you shoot them? this is an escalation of force.
1. It is a logical falacy. A flaw that will lead you to errant conclusions. They should be avoided. "All ducks quack. I can quack. Therefor I am a duck." 2. I believe in the rule of law, and so long as it is illegal to kill yourself, you should be brought to justice for doing so. It is a law I would like to see changed. What do you care about the law? The constitution guarantees our right to bear arms SPECIFICALLY to prevent our government from tyranny... which is what you are suggesting. 3. Children cannot own property, because they are not able to understand the consequences of their actions yet and as such cannot be held properly accountable for them... so no. Teachers, yes. College students yes. 4. Makes a difference in the argument you were trying to wage. Ultimately? Not in my purview to say. 5. It is the bear that escalates in its attack. Winning a battle does not make a battle your "fault". And unless my aim is good, or my armament a shotgun, the bear will probably still win.
[1] Oh. [2] What would your country do to you? would they remove from you rights? the soldiers that fight for them are human beings too, with the same needs as you, and, an identity with you is shared. if the state told them to stop a riot coming to your house, i am sure you would agree there needs to be this 'tyranny.' [3] Do you really think they should take guns to 'schools?' where is the danger there? they might get beat up, but, they are more stressed there. it is not like getting a iron gate for your front door - mace - it is more like getting vicious animals in your back yard, yes? [4] Okay. [5] Do you invade the back yards of others? poor bear.
You show me a Country where there was a genocide, and I'll show you a Country where they abolished the right to own guns.
