Why do you insist on giving a special title to people who don't believe there is an invisible man living in the sky. I don't believe that Elvis is still alive or that aliens built the pyramids, why no special title for that?
Maybe it is. Imposing your beliefs on folks so that the community at large can pick out the heathens among us so they can be discriminated against for their noncompliance is not Christian behavior. Do you treat people differently if they choose not to participate? (the question is rhetorical by the way) I honestly could care less, as long as it isn't some idiotic rant about please lord give us the strength to beat the snot out of the less deserving team on the other side of the field BS. I think anybody who thinks that is how God works is an idiot. A short and simple thank you and keep "all" the players safe, while we celebrate life in this friendly game/pastime, sounds so much better, isn't a long winded rambling waste of time, and doesn't hurt a thing. Tolerance is a two way street.
no, I'm sure you're right.... atheists and vegans and cross-fitters never tell you about their lifestyle EVERY.CHANCE.THEY.GET, huh... lol
When did I say never? I clearly said MOST atheists and it is accurate. Cross dressers clearly present their life style by how they dress. Vegans do seem to announce themselves a lot but they are just silly. Once again I bet no atheist has announced to you that they are atheist unless asked or unless it was relevant to a conversation. BTW atheism is a conclusion not a lifestyle
You're assuming they care. - - - Updated - - - You're assuming that atheists care what you believe ... They just can't be forced into believing as you believe.
What an amazingly irrelevant post. - - - Updated - - - Then the tub-thumper crowd snivel that you are VIOLATING THIR FREEDOM OF RELIGION, defined as trying to force their beliefs on everybody else.
Ah, the traditional and idiotic) cop-out. Anyone who isn't (their) religion is automatically immoral, and for a very good reason - BECAUSE THEY SAID SO.
So, does every Christian you meet tell you he's a Christian? Because you seem oddly convinced that the only atheists are those who reveal themselves to you.
You really have no concept of a group of people NOT caring what you do? That your religion is NOT important to them? The prayer at a ball game is not particularly something anyone contests on the ground of being non-religious, it's contested on the grounds that the said ball games are school activities, which are part of our government funded infrastructure. Our government provides separation of church and state, so no government run institution shall impose or allow any religion(s) to be practiced as a form of social indoctrination. By allowing prayer in any school activity, you are creating a peer pressure system that shuns students who do not participate and creates a social barrier to their advancement. Even if you provide for all different religions to have that Prayer time, it alienates those who are minorities, and distracts from the academic purpose of the institution. As an individual, you have the right to pray any time you want, but establishing a specific point in time for a group is called "Organized" prayer and is not acceptable to the guiding principles our founding fathers put in the constitution.
I'm not claiming they don't, though. I have no problem atheists saying it... but to say it, then claim they don't, is pretty absurd
You keep ignoring what was said. No one said they do not as an absolute. What was clearly said is that in general they do not. I am sure a few do but most do not go out of their way to tell you they are atheist. Unlike many people of faith who are driven to announce, witness and publically proclaim their belief in effort to spread it. Most atheists have no need or motive to spread their ideas.
"in general" wouldn't result in the stereotypical joke. Not all crossfitters and vegans preach their lifestyle either.... but enough of them wear the shirts and post their vegitarian grass tofu turkey dinners on facebook... yes, they do... "in general.
I have no problem with Christians and Muslims Praying, as long as they are not disrupting students learning in class or something now you try to force my children to pray... then we have issues .
if they need to pray at certain times, I like you support them, just don't force others to pray with them "Muslim Prayer in Schools" http://www.newsmax.com/FastFeatures...-National-News-Religion/2015/03/25/id/634426/ .
The 14th Amendment extended the restrictions of the 1st Amendment to the states and by them, local government. Schools are a function of local government.
Yes the blaming of the opposite side for doing what they are doing ploy, ridiculous. All rights have limitations, even religious freedom. You cannot kill your virgin daughter help crops to grow, and you cannot or should not be allowed to impose your religious doctrine on others. Asking for them to mind their own business, leave others out of your fanatical beliefs, is not a loss of their right to practice their religion.
