So apparently what the President is claiming and many of us are confirming is: Hillary was such a failed candidate that even a looser like Obama could have won the election.

Ok......to all those on the left........I agree............Hillary was about the only person on Earth capable of loosing to Trump.

But......does that say more about Trump or more about the Left and their ideology?

All of that is correct but leftists CANNOT admit it. They cannot admit that Barack Obama has been a very, VERY bad president.

Precisely. Obama spent 500 million dollars worth of taxpayers' money on public relations for his administration and that sort of cash BUYS any sort of polling returns one desires. In reality and based on his divisiveness as a president and his failed foreign policies and his KEEPING the national economy grounded, Barack Obama most likely possesses around a 35% positive popularity rating at best.

No I said thanks to you for admitting it.

What part of that makes it sound like I didn't know myself? Did you get confused?

Heard his statement. It's typical Obama. When it comes to flaunting his YUGE ego he just can't help himself. 1) he insulted Hillary big time. 2) he insulted the Dem party. 3) he insulted (or tried to) Trump. What a nasty, self-serving SOB he can be.

You appeared delighted and surprised to a point where you had to thank me for that revelation. For that, you are welcome.

True, but the party that holds the white house almost always loses seats in congress throughout its term in the Oval Office. The thing is our presidential elections have been turned into beauty contests or ugly contest thinking about this last election. In 2012 there were more people who like Obama personally than that approved of his policy. You do have a valid point. But it is one thing to go against Romney who was seen by 46% of all Americans in a negative view and another to go against Trump when 60% give or take of all Americans had a negative view of him.

History has shown folks tend not to vote for someone they dislike. That did and didn't apply this time around. Gallup showed 25% of all Americans disliked both candidates, yet Trump won this group pretty convincingly. They disliked Hillary more than Trump. A Trump vs. Obama match up never happened, so one can't be sure how it would turn out. But the numbers points to a Obama win and probably a fairly easy win.

Trump ran a very unconventional campaign. I think President Obama is right though. He would have won a third term. I don't think he'd have lost the Rust Belt like Hillary did.

Hillary didn't bother to visit those states. She basically told the white dudes in those states who have lost their jobs over the past few decades, "you're white, you don't have any problems". Hillary was not a likeable person or an effective communicator. Despite his poor policies, Obama has both of those qualities in spades. Trump exploited every single one of Hillary's faults brilliantly. I'm not sure he could have done the same to Obama.

Direction of the country, in Nov 2008 23% of Americans thought the country was moving in the right direction, Obama won. Nov of 2010, 31% of Americans thought the country was moving in the right direction and the Democrats lost 63 house seats. In Nov of 2012, 40% of Americans thought the country was moving in the right direction, Obama won and in Nov of 2014 27% thought the country was moving in the right direction and the Republicans took back the senate. Nov of 2016 31% say the country is moving in the right direction, but does the direction of the country and Obama's favorable/approval ratings correspond?

2008 Obama's 61% approval rating and the 23% right direction indicators was a double whammy to McCain. They do correspond to the results.
2010 Obama's 45% approval rating and 31% direction also correspond to the final results
2012 Obama's 55% approval rating and 40% thinking the country is headed in the right direction, close. The majority still though the country was headed in the wrong direction, but Obama's approval numbers over rode that.
2014 Obama's 53% approval rating and 27% right direction would seem the right/wrong direction over rode Obama's approval numbers. But Obama wasn't running, so how much did Obama's approval rating play? Probably not much, it was the senate candidates that mattered, not the president.
2016 who knows? You do have a valid point. But I think being a plus or positive 20 points on favorable/unfavorable for Obama vs. a negative 20 points for Trump would be too much for him to over come. The question then becomes how many of the anti Clinton voters in this election would turn out to be also anti Obama if he were allowed to run again? It wouldn't take many.

I believe we are looking at this the wrong way?

Who cares if Obama "could have won"? He can't, and he didn't.

    Trump won.

Obama could have defeated Trump because of his coalition. Most people could have beaten Trump, HRC was the WORST candidate imaginable in 2016.

I am so pleased, so deliriously happy, that Obama is banned from being president, I just am in ecstasy.

It is not that I want Russia attacked, which seems to be the course Democrats hope for, nor Syria nor Iraq. I simply want a president that is decisive. Makes much faster decisions.

How could he have made quicker decisions? Quick decisions by the president signal the world he is using a very well thought out plan. Obama should have got his best minds going on day one and have a plan made up so he could decide a lot faster.

That mess with General McChrystal, was atrocious. And the man spent years on the Keystone Pipe. Even then, he only turned it down when the other side quit.

Obama had the job, but his execution was extremely poor.

When Bush found he had an economical mess, the man took extremely fast and very decisive action.

But Obama is a slow thinker.

One might think by 2016 the public at last had caught up to the real Obama.

By golly, posts made show this simply is not true. The man continues to fool the public. Amazing.

And another reason Trump would have won. Obama's foreign policy has been an absolute disaster, we now have runaway terrorism because of it. Not to forget letting 5 of the world's worst terrorist go free, and giving Iran nuclear capabilities. He's a fricken joke, not to mention what a liar

The democrats haven't held so few seats and governorship's since the 1920's. Their message was rejected along with the hate that follows their hateful message.

I think that the average citizen has got his number. Due to Political Correctness they dare not be open with what they actually think about the man, but they are not happy with him.
