While he didn't go head to head with Obama, Obama did campaign against him and for Hillary. He called on his faithful to protect his legacy and they failed to do so. Obama is lucky he didn't have to put his money where his mouth is, Trump beat all comers.
Yeah, the final money count probably would be something close to what you state. Clinton tried to tie into Obama's coat tails, but really wasn't that successful. Obama may have hurt Clinton more in Florida than he helped. I mean with normalization of relations with Cuba. What that did was get the older Cuban refugees angry and they turned out in a very high percentage to vote against the Clinton/Obama coalition. Trump won the Cuban Hispanic vote 54-41 over Clinton while Clinton won the overall Hispanic vote 71-26. The bottom line is Hillary Clinton can thank the loss of Florida or place that loss directly on Obama and his policies. Obama campaigning in Florida hurt Clinton a lot more than it helped.
I think the numbers belay that, but since it didn't happen, we will never know for sure. I am talking about more than just the favorable/unfavorable numbers which has Obama in the positive and Trump in the negative. Obama's favorable/unfavorable number reflect about where he was in 2012 when he beat Romney. Obama won 95% of the black vote, Hillary 88%, Obama won union households which were extremely important in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania by a 58-40 margin over Romney, Hillary won union households by a 50-42 margin with the rest going to third party candidates. That extra 10 points in which Obama beat Romney probably would have meant the difference in those three states, union households make up 20% of the electorate there. Obama won the young vote 60-37, Clinton won the 18-29 year old 55-36 with the rest voting third party. I could go on and on, I think a lot of Sanders supporters stayed home or voted third party. Clinton won Sanders supporters 62-22 over Trump with 16% voting third party. With Obama running for a third term there would be no Sanders supporters and even if there was, you can be sure that 22% who voted for Trump would have been cut down and the 16% who couldn't vote for either candidate probably would have went to Obama. Obama also received 92% of the Democratic base vote, Clinton received only 88%, again additional numbers going for Obama. The blue wall was Obama's, not Hillary's, But since it never happened...who knows? But I base my opinion on numbers. According to the exit polls, 55% of those who voted for Trump were anti Hillary Clinton voters. There would have been a whole lot less anti-Obama voters and a whole lot less of people voting for third party candidates who disliked both major party candidates.
You want me to refute your OPINION with anything other than my OPINION? LOL. Holy hell you are all kinds of special aren't ya? LMAO - - - Updated - - - I bet you thought when Ronnie won all those States back in the day that the GOP would rule USA for decades to come. How wrong you were then, how wrong you will be now. - - - Updated - - - My bad.
And the premise of your belief that those blue collars workers who have suffered heavily the last 10 years would have voted for a third term of the same is what exactly?
And he had no coattails, there or anywhere else which speaks loudly about would he have won a third term.
I base my position on the number of asses he kicked on his way to the White House. Hillary had a lock on it right up till she didn't. Poll numbers told her she did.
I think Obama underestimates the the extent that a repudiation of his polices played in Trump winning.
It is a fact that the dems haven't held so few seats in government nationwide since the 1920's. https://www.creators.com/read/scott...gs-on-to-historic-gains-in-state-legislatures During President Obama's time in office, republicans made historic gains in state legislative races. But, many observers expected that the democrats would regain some of their lost ground in 2016. That's not what happened. Instead, the two parties fought to what can best be described as a draw allowing the GOP to hold its highest level of political power since the 1920s.
Not really with Hillary, not the last three days worth. The national polls stated she should win the popular vote by 3 points with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 points. She won the popular vote by 2 points well within the margin of error. No one paid attention to a Michigan poll on the 6 November by the Trafalgar Group which had Trump up by 2 points, again with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 points. Pennsylvania was the same way, four polls taken 2-6 November showed Clinton up 4 in one, by 2 in another, tied in a third and Trump up by 1 in a fourth. In those two states the trend was definitely going to Trump. Wisconsin was the exception as all had Clinton winning there by an average of 5 points. But for the most part, if one paid attention to the recent polls, not the ones taken a week or more prior to the election, the trend was visible. Most just ignored it. The same with Florida, the last 5 polls showed Trump up by 3 and 4 points in two of them, tied in a third and Clinton up by one and two in the remaining two polls. All with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 points, dead heat in other words. The indications were there, just ignored by most including me. It was a very late trend. Those voters who made up their mind within the last week of the campaign went for Trump 49-41 with 10% voting third party. The closer to the election voters made up their minds on whom they would vote for, the worst Clinton did.
0 screamed at one rally that his legacy was at stake and he would hold all liberals, progressives, Blacks, perverts and welfare queens responsible if Hillary lost. I guess they thought that 0 was lying or they no longer fear his Black Lives Matter goons?? 0 will be lucky if he isn't convicted of treason and thrown into Gitmo with his America hating terrorists buds.
Because Obama didn't ooze that "Your white male privilege means you're just complaining about nothing" sentiment that Hillary did. Hillary treated those people like she treated the black vote. That is to say her mindset was "It's ours, nothing to worry about". Obama, for all his faults, is a good politician and campaigner.
The fact is that you and your ilk got your butts kicked. Your reactions to getting your butts kicked is what's comical. Trump will get to stack the courts, and he's going to do it with constitution loving Right Wingers ready to rumble..... Thanks to good ole harry reid Trump can do anything he damn well pleases. YEA HAW.... Are we having fun or what... Live for the moment Baby............
Why would a Lib like Trump do any of the things you say he will? LOL Let me ask you a question, When Trump advises his AG to not pursue any legal action on his good & close friend Hillary, how will that make you feel? Is he still gonna be the second coming of your messiah Ronnie Ray Gun?
Is that like "Hillary will be President in 2017"? - - - Updated - - - Seems to me he has been doing that for 8 years touting how great the economy is and how he has put everyone back to work. HE declared this was a vote on his LEGACY and his POLICIES and Clinton gave no indication she was going to divert from them.
Blue collar jobs have been declining since the mid 80's. Clinton had baggage, Obama, not much if any. Trump may have only had one debate with Obama, and would not have returned for any more, that's how bad that would have been. Whether you agree with Obama or not, the fact remains that he energizes people. He is very intelligent & articulate. Way out of Trump's league. On a side note, got to work in Bama for seven months around Pell City in 2010. Very nice area with wonderful people. And Talladega is an engineering marvel.
Can you say Mad Dog Mattis and the likes? Trump doesn't have to get his hands dirty taking out the trash.. He's going to have people for that. hillary and bill will still get theirs and it's going to feel good, just like watching Trump spank liberal azz in this last election. Trump is playing nice until Jan 20th, and then it's on......... liberal feathers will be flying..... This is all so much fun, I don't know how much more I can take.
.Christian pastor to President Obama: For 8 years, I've watched you be the better man http://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/...watched-you-be-the-better-man?detail=facebook In this open letter to President Obama, Pavlovitz writes about how history will secure the Presidents grand legacy and body of wor. After watching President Obama for eight years, Pavlovitz shares his observations. Here are some excerpts from his June piece. Ive watched the way youve absorbed a billion body blows from your critics; brutal words that run far deeper than policy or platform, words composed within poisoned hearts long before you served a single day in office. Ive watched you bombarded with a daily molotov cocktail of white privilege and hidden or overt racism disguised as objective opposition. Ive watched your wife and children attacked with a ferocity and malevolence that defy any sense of decency and that have no precedence. Ive watched your birthplace called into question, your personal faith ridiculed, your very humanity discounted. Ive watched you endure the incessant, bitter venom of those for whom the color of your skin was always going to be a problem. And through all of it, Ive watched you be the better man. Pavlovitz tells President Obama that In the face of a sustained, spitting, violent, raw-throated hatred, youve never responded in kind. He writes that Obama never allowed himself to be defined by bigotry and never disrespected his critics by becoming them. This, Pavlovitz says, will be President Obamas greatest legacy. The truth is, many of us understand that the Evangelical Right, the NRA, FoxNews, and far too many ordinary folks living here were simply never going to be okay with a man of color leading them and succeedingand yet you have done both. Eight years later, those same people still strain to bait you into reciprocating bitterness and in fulfilling their toxic prophecies of you, while you simply continue to do what you do with nobility, compassion, good humor, and steadfast, unapologetic conviction. John Pavlovitz tells President Obama, You live the grace so many Christians invoke but rarely model. The pastor adds, as a father, he realizes his children are always watching him, taking cues from the way he treats people and how he responds to adversity. He knows his children watch how he cares for those in pain, how he handles mistreatment and that his words will always be secondary to his conduct. This is where I find my deepest gratitude for you in these days. He tells the President, For eight years you have worked for those who have been marginalized, even while so many have sought to marginalize you. Pavlovitz writes that he and so many others are trying to live passionately yet with integrity and are committed to standing upon principles and never upon people. He says, We are seeing the way youve done it and are moved to move similarly together. So youll forgive me if I speak informally right now, and if I use words used often brandished by your critics to undermine the work youve done and the life youve lived and the character youve shown. Without a trace of irony or sarcasm, let me simply say: Thanks, Obama. President Obama's approval numbers are the highest on record because he was the best president, ever.
I have never heard of this pavlovitz before, but it is clear he either has an agenda or he is truly without a clue. His blaming all the opposition to obama on racism is a joke. He is a racist himself for doing this. History will show obama to be the most divisive Racist president the US has ever had. obama's foreign policy has left the Middle East in ruins. I could go on and on but I don't have a week to waste. I can't wait for Trump to take over....
This election was decided by the people in this country that felt left behind as the New World Order gathered momentum. There were more of them than there were thought to have been.
