I agree with one having to prove citizenship to vote but poll taxes are illegal for good reason. If photo ID's are required they should be provided at no cost
It means the source is not credible. Maybe not the MAIN story, but cannot trust details or tone, etc.
its all over the web yahoo news https://www.yahoo.com/news/supreme-court-rejects-texas-appeal-over-voter-id-143829132.html
What I have always wanted to know from the liberal and anti-voter ID folks is how does requiring an ID to vote, translates to a hardship on minorities to acquire it thus unable to vote? Every argument that they come up, can be fixed..... 1) They can't afford it, we'll give it you for free. 2) They cant' do to the DMV for an ID, we'll come to you. And my fav. 3) Voter fraud is so low. And? It should be zero. - - - Updated - - - AP, Yahoo news, and everyone else is all ready carrying it.
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/supreme-court-rejects-texas-appeal-voter-id-law/ Here we go! Good source now!
they got mugs face that are wanted for felonies or can be match up on a previous crime by a detective
PBS is left leaning? No, "The Nation" is a left leaning publication, PBS is just news stories and educational programming.
will see.. the wall going up shortly and trump maybe hiring a hunters squad to find the others hiding in the citys with no id to send then back where they have come from
The word is "We'll" not "will". C'mon! It's English! If you're going to be a xenophobe you could at least learn the damn language.
This isn't the case in every state, and it should be free for anyone regardless of whether they can afford it if it's going to be a requirement to vote. By that, I mean it should be free for anyone to get an ID for voting purposes if one is going to be required. I'm not saying that every ID that qualifies, like a driver's license, should be free. Again, this doesn't happen in every state. I'm actually unsure if it happens in any state. In what states will the government come to you to issue you an ID? It's effectively zero in terms of impact. Nationwide, there was something like 600 incidences of voter fraud in the 2012 election. And most of that was mail-in ballot fraud, which voter ID laws don't affect. Out of over 120 million votes, 0.0005% of them were found to be fraudulent. So we're talking about putting a hurdle in front of hundreds of thousands of voters to stop a fraction of a fraction of a percent of possible fraud. Then there's the issue of these ID laws being proposed exclusively to deter voters who typically vote for one side over another. This Texas law, for instance, would have made NRA cards acceptable for voting but not student ID cards. It's a blatant attempt to exclude liberal-leaning demographics from the voting process. We should be encouraging election participation, not discouraging it. If it really was free and hassle-free to get a voter ID, I think there would be very little opposition to such laws. Set up a booth at every polling place that allows those without ID to get one, for free, right before they vote, and I'll be on board.
actually we should be discouraging it THEM that are the uneducated with politics ill informed, they are screwing up the logical picks for the rest of us tainting the voting process, like us that study a lot about the issues and candidate
you really dont know for sure i have a issue with organizational skills writing as it says above, it can affect each person differently note
Representation is a founding principle of this country. Do you think the "ill informed" have less of a right to representation than you? Trump wouldn't be in office right now without the ill informed being able to vote. And before you protest that, I'll just refer you to every video of him gushing over the uneducated and uninformed masses. But even if I accepted that idea, the Texas form of voter ID doesn't discourage people in that category. It just discourages the apathetic, the poor, and people without a lot of time on their hands. Plenty of well-informed people fall into one or more of those categories.
