Seems like a lot of people are making the legal argument that a fetus is nor a person. So if someone were to attack a pregnant women who intended to deliver the baby and the attack caused the baby to be lost what would the charges against the attacker be? Surely there could be no charges brought for the loss of the baby because as some of you have pointed out...it's not actually a person with rights yet.
That is covered under the UVVA. I t has to do with the woman's consent. Killing her fetus without her consent is an added injury. It does NOT make the fetus a person. In fact the UVVA has a clause , which you would know about if you knew about abortion, that specifically states the Act has no connection to abortion .
So if a woman harms her fetus it's morally and legally acceptable but if soemone else harms it at the same point in gestation that is to be considered immoral and illegal. Sure...that makes sense.
Who mentioned "morally" or "immoral" ? I didn't. Yes, if a woman consents to having an abortion it's legal. If she doesn't then it isn't. See , the person who attacks her takes away her CHOICE, just like Anti-Abortion people want to do.
Feel free to discuss morals all you want....but don't expect other people to accept your version of them...or even think it's an interesting discussion. The rest of my post: ""Yes, if a woman consents to having an abortion it's legal. If she doesn't then it isn't. See , the person who attacks her takes away her CHOICE, just like Anti-Abortion people want to do.""""
So it's OK to force your morals on others but not for me to do so? Also when the mother makes the CHOICE to have an abortion she takes away the baby's LIFE. You can defend it all you want but it's still wrong.
DO please point out exactly where I want to force my morals on someone else.......or admit you told a "misrepresentation" about my post. No, a woman doesn't take away a baby's life in abortion, she takes away a fetus's life... She doesn't take away a teenagers life or a senior citizen's life so how did you come up with a "baby's" life???? Those are all stages in life, they aren't interchangeable... .............you can whine about women having the right to their own bodies but it's still right. You're still desperately ignoring this part of my post: ""Yes, if a woman consents to having an abortion it's legal. If she doesn't then it isn't. See , the person who attacks her takes away her CHOICE, just like Anti-Abortion people want to do.""""
So if it's a fetuss and not a baby then why do people ask pregnant woman who intend to have the baby "how's the baby doing" instead of "how's the fetus doing." In our society it stops being a baby and becomes a "fetus" only when the mother deems it is unwanted. It's a baby. I'm not ignoring anything in you r post. I never claimed abortion was illegal. I know it's legal but also believe it to be immoral. I don't want to take the right to it away either. Please show me where I said that. What I would prefer is if our society as a whole had more respect for the life of the babies and did not treat abortion so cavalierly. I'm not anti-abortion. I'm pro life.
No, because my only concern is keeping abortion legal. I don't care what people think of it's morality as long as it's legal.
Why do women say "I am going to have a baby"? No, it is always a fetus when it's between 9 weeks gestation and birth. Then I have no quarrel with you. Actually, you are pro choice. Pro lifers want to make abortion illegal.
I presume you are a "zip it up and leave guy" the first human may feel it's her right to live. Jeez, why are guys so self righteous? If you haven't been there shut your trap, you have nothing to say
In your country. Not all have the same liberal version of when a foetus has rights. They are defined in "law" and not the sentiments of any pregnant mother - so it all depends upon where you live because there are great variations in fetal law. Not only in the US, but internationally as well ...
I think when the poster stated : """Quote Originally Posted by Njoror View Post In our society it stops being a baby and becomes a "fetus" only when the mother deems it is unwanted"" ..he was being sarcastic. In all countries, no matter what the law, a fetus is a fetus no matter what the woman it's in calls it. It isn't a baby until it's born.
