Look like Assad reads Muscovite history a lot, this what Muscovite dictator koba did , will it work for alawites? can they change demographic balance in Syria with help of muscovite bombs and such repopulation operations? or Syria is just to big for this?

Before 2011 one of Syria's serious problems was over population.

Which ones are the regular Muslims and which ones are the alt-Muslims? I can never keep 'em straight but it's good to know they still hate each other more than they hate Israel.

So that's the territory Iran views as "their's" huh?

I guess if we ever need to destroy Israel they can become south-west Persia when we look for a replacement about what other ancient empire needs a homeland.

Sounds like even the Alawites are turning against them

In the stalls and small shops of the capital, trinkets showing the first family remain as ubiquitous as they ever were but few in Syria have any illusions about the president and his wife, according to a well-informed source – even among the Alawites, the minority Muslim sect from which the Assads originate.

“I think there’s a great resentment even among the Alawites towards the Assads,” says the source. “Because they feel they are the ones paying the price. Even in Alawite villages you hear it. The graves for us and the palaces for them.”

“They have certainly lost whatever lustre they had prior to the outbreak of the civil war among most of the population, because that’s what the destruction of this war will do,” says Lesch, who came to know the president well in the period before the war.

“To many Syrians, they have lost their legitimacy to rule. So the big question, if he somehow does survive is: do they realise this? Does the regime adequately realise how much the public has moved away from them?”

no, as i said it before alawites are not muslims its a very ancient, secretive religion (s) (Alawites were recognized by Iran as shiias only in 1978, on political grounds, Iran can recognize your south baptists as shiias as well , they are very flexible)

No I don't think the Persians are smarter. If they were smarter they would be stable, prosperous and good international citizens. They certainly have the resources and location.

actually, not all alwites are happy with assad, Finnish winter war shows that small nations have clear demographic limitations in a long fight , alawites want their Alawite - home land in Latakia and this is it, but no one wants to give it to them, all sides (except EU/USA ) against , Iran, Muscovy, Turkey, KSA, etc.

Meanwhile, the "Death to America!" crowd's revanchist pals in Moscow are doing the same thing.

Margot we have a great example, Syria, we both know, Assad does not have an army more then 3 years, Iran made army from liturgically sh¤tt , officers, advisers Iranian, human meat from poor shiia regions from P-stan/A-stan to Yemen , Iraq and Gulf states . all together less them 50 000 , plus put pressure on USA, Turkey, and the result - the victory over entire sunni - world. Muscovy know nothing about MENA it was fooled by Iran , meanwhile Iran even didn´t recognize Crimean occupation...

That's interesting I didn't know anything about Alawites. Strange how Shia Muslims are able to tolerate them. I thought all Muslims were required to persecute non-believers.

Actually Muslims are not supposed to bother Christians, Jews or pagans. That's what it says in the Koran.

The Top Goon doesn't need to repopulate the entire country to tighten his control - he just needs to strengthen his regime's base in the western part of the country and that's exactly what's going on here.

Can we say that Assad is conducting an ethno-sectarian cleansing program in Syria? Yes, we can.
