Does Lady Liberty still Represent the USA?

I was under the impression the poem won the contest that funded the pedestal the statue is on. But true, the Statue of Liberty has nothing to do with immigration.

 

We seem to have a lot of dishonesty, avoidance, and weaseling, based on the viewing rate and results. No surprise.

I realize it confuses a lot of people to ask for a straight answer. It is also clear that a lot of "no votes" won't admit it in order to skew the results.

It is the silent war against liberty. You can twist the words and skew the results but your meaning is still clear.

 

That plaque never meant what it was supposed to. Why not send the whole thing back to France with a nuke in it.

The plaque still applies because we are not banning any particular race, creed or religion. We are TEMPORARILY banning ALL refugees from the named nations known to have active terrorist activities which, BTW were the very same ones identified as terrorist strongholds by the Obama administration. BTW we are NOT banning all Muslims there are 10's of millions of them still able to come here.

You want the statue of Liberty destroyed? France is rabidly becoming a Muslim nation and so the first thing they would do upon coming to power would be to destroy Lady Liberty.

No it isn't, because the poem actually was written before the statute and is her vision of someday there being a Jewish homeland (Israel) EXCLUSIVES for Jews with zero diversity.

She had been dead over 20 years when it installed, so no she did not approve of the usage or win any contest. In context, and given at the time it installed, 1901, only white people were allowed in AND there was in place an executive order by Theodore Roosevelt banning ANY Muslims from coming into the USA, giving as reason their values and morality would corrupt our country. The State of Liberty and the plaque are about desperate WHITE PEOPLE fleeing oppression to come to a free country for white people, thus escaping other religions, theocracies and the oppressions of other races.

 

Sure we do.... Just not all several billions of them. A reasonable number thoroughly vetted "masses" from countries where such vetting is possible and limited to those who are yearning to breathe free, not those who oppress women, stone adulterers, execute gays and practice sharia law incompatible with the law of the land.

Our "revisionist" politically-correct Left-wing politicians are tearing down statues of Confederate heroes from about the same period in history as the plaque on the Statue of Liberty. If we're going to rip out things that we now consider to be "unacceptable", or just flat obsolete, and totally out-of-date, then sure, get rid of the plaque, too. Hey, back when they cast that plaque, we NEEDED lots and lots of immigrants, to work the land, to work in our new factories, to fight the Indians, and everything else. Today? We've got over 350,000,000 people crowding the United States now.

When that plaque was cast, we had less than 39,000,000 people here, in the entire United States. One thing is for sure -- we sure as hell don't need any more people piling in here in 2017 to suck on our numerous welfare teats....

 

Confederate heroes? They were all traitors.

We kept the Statue of liberty but not the Confederacy, remember.

But the Confederacy never really gave up, did they. They have wanted to break up the US for 150 years.

 

It wouldn't be so insulting if you all didn't claim to be real Americans. In fact, you have never accepted American values. Just admit you never wanted to be a part of this country. That would at least be honest.

They were heroes to the people who wanted to be rid of a central-government tyranny that had been expressly forbidden by the Constitution of the United States. They fought valiantly for the sovereign rights of STATES, exactly as spelled-out in the Constitution! Read it if you don't believe me....

What Left-wing revisionist "historians" conveniently forget is that slavery was really only a side-issue. Surely you noticed that Lincoln didn't even "get around" to abolishing slavery until the Civil War had been going on for ALMOST TWO YEARS! No, the heart of the Southern "rebellion" was over the sovereign rights of STATES. Moreover, slavery would have been made obsolete by evolving agricultural technology within another forty years anyway!

And yet, now, while we see the 'sovereign state' of Kalifornia trying to wrest control away from the central government in Washington D. C., the hyperlibs are all for it! Me, too! I hope Kalifornia is successful in seceding from the the USA and that it becomes its own separate country. For that matter, I hope it takes the People's Republik of Oregon and the People's Republik of Washington State with it when it goes (at least, those portions of the Pacific Northwest that are west of the Cascade Mountains)....

Do YOU support returning to what that meant when the plaque was installed?

1. Only White people are admitted
2. Summary decisions without hearing denying admission
3. Medical exam before admission
4. No social programs of any kind not only for immigrants but any Americans
5. No minimum wage, no child labor laws, no job benefits
6. Immigrants and any American could starve to death without a penny of help from the government
7. Racial and gender discrimination 100% legal.

That is what you advocate for, don't you? The principles of the Statute of Liberty?

Truth? We have almost THREE HUNDRED TWENTY-SEVEN MILLION people in the United States in 2017! We should cut off ALL immigration from ALL foreign countries for at least the next five years -- and do it RIGHT NOW!

 

Remove the plaque.

Remove the Statue as well... Screw the gift, it's from France FFS.

 

The plaque was placed at a different time when green card immigration was generally assumed. It never meant accepting illegals, gang members and terrorists. The 'core principal' is the same as every other country, you come here, you learn the language, you do not collect welfare, you want to become an American.

 

I think it should be dated... to show that it is outdated. You know 1600 something to... I don't know... 2016? more like 1975

 

I like that! It can read like a headstone as a reminder of how the country used to be.
