Our economic engine is not keeping up with the appetite of the wipe-every-nose welfare state

in all fairness Trump is asking other countries to contribute more on defence spending, one of his more rational demands imo.

More like your war machine cannot rape, pillage and plunder fast enough to sustain itself. That's what's happens when 26% of your taxes go to the military... poverty.

How many planes do they carry, four to six each? Here is Spain's contribution to naval might.

    29 aircraft.

After a bit of Googling, I was surprised to see the UK currently has no operational aircraft carriers. The greatest sea power the world had known at one time, reduced to this?

UK doesn't have any money left over after all the spending on the NHS.........and yes they are heavily in debt but keep fudging the numbers constantly.

But you have national health care. You don't need those other trivial things.

Don't beat yourself up over it, DoI - it's hard for me to believe and I AM a native Brit. It's yet another indicator that this poor country of mine has become infantalised, and it's easy to brainwash children. God know how much of our currency has left these shores over the years of our contributions, and for what? For the self-aggrandisement of elitists and incompetent politicians, and we are now we're paying the price under the label of 'austerity'. We've been well and truly shafted. But hey, it's not all doom and gloom - we still have imbecilic television and wall-to-wall footie to keep the majority happy.

The NHS used to be worth striving for, but now it has become dysfunctional thanks to the useless bureaucrats who run it and the chav nurses who are only there for the monthly pay cheque.

That's my problem with it. It's not so much scary govt, it's scary bureaucracy. The govt makes everything they touch worse than the way they found it.

Well when you think about it the government is a bureaucracy because politicians are essentially bureaucrats, and bureaucrats by their indolence and stupidity always screw things up.

Edit: Not that I've got anything against bureaucrats? :roflol:

The information you were given is a little inaccurate

National defense in America consumes less than 18% of the federal budget

As for your insults of American soldiers i regret ever spending a penny or one drop of blood defending whichever country you live in

You try it again and again.... but this time I will answer your nonsense this way:

    Read this:

    https://warisboring.com/the-russian-navy-is-in-a-death-spiral/

The Russian Navy Is in a Death Spiral
The Kremlin should focus on what it really needs — submarines, really

Over the past year, the Russian navy has undertaken several high visibility operations, most notably the deployment of the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov off the coast of Syria, and the launch of cruise missiles from ships based in the Caspian Sea. Russian submarine activity has also increased, although not quite to the level seen in the Cold War.

But Moscow might be best advised to heed Matthew 26:41 where maritime adventures are concerned; “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

    Current ships
The Russian navy inherited a massive, modern fleet of surface ships and submarines. Most of these disappeared in short order, as Russia was incapable of maintaining such a flotilla. The remaining major units of the Russian navy are very old, and in questionable states of repair.
    ....

Russia also has excellent engineers and researchers. It won't take them long to build a modern fleet when funds are available.

And this is the problem and reason ... in Russia and Britain and elsewhere in the world where military is more or less in a more bad shape as before. ;-)

It's only in your head that there is a mythical tugboat. In reality, was sent refueler for the cruiser. Because Spain denied the possibility of refueling a Russian ship. :roflol::roflol::roflol:
