Look, you got owned, yet again.

You have zero credibility on anything. You are a illiberal.

Just stop posting and lurk, nobody is interested in talking to you anymore, you have nothing to offer but the same illiberal nonsense as the others.

You aren't that naive. What Kaepernick did was immensely political. He lit this fuse.

He stood at the edge of the tunnel. I believe the rest of the team was standing in the tunnel. They just did not take the field (and neither did Villanueva).

It was political in the sense that he 'protested' the US National Anthem. Notice, we're not talking about racism, or racial injustice. Their actions have literally backfired in the most meaningful sense possible. In terms of social activism, this is in social activism what NOT to do lol.

I don't condone the president's language, I should have been clearer: As a private US Citizen, I want all of this division to stop. And saying ' F U' to the flag, isn't helping Blacks, Whites or anyone. Real Social activism was what occurred in the 60's. That was real, positive change. We need our hippie grandparents to teach us how it's done.

No, it's not political. It's Kaepernick's opinion of a social injustice that he sees, or that he thinks he sees. Social injustice, not political injustice. He never said "Republicans are bad people." Did he?

People have been disrespecting the US flag for generations. Kap is hardly the first to do it.

When the NYPD was displeased (rightfully so) with Mayor deBlasio, what did they do? They turned their back on him. Quietly and peacefully. Do you think they were wrong to do that? Does being a member of the NYPD force mean you have to accept what you think is unjust? That, too, had nothing to do with politics. It had to do with a reaction to what they perceived to be a problem.

Not so. Kaepernick dragged his disrespect for the National Anthem into football. Trump decided to defend National Anthem and what it stands for.

    There.

Youre correct, but on the National TV? Hm... ah yes... Obama was indeed the first to do it on the National TV.

Just showing the evidence that you asked for of former enemies of the United States honoring and showing respect to those they fought against on the battlefield and American Marines honoring and showing respect to those Japanese soldiers they fought against on Iwo Jima. It's an annual event that takes place every year on Iwo Jima.

The Marine Corps band strikes up the National Anthem of the USA and everyone both Americans and Japanese civilians, vets and Japans military stand up. Next the Japanese anthem is played Everyone stands up and the Marine rifle honor guards go to present arms.

Earlier this year in Los Angeles at the HNL All Stars hockey game. The national anthem of both the USA and Canada are played and everyone in the stadium stood up respecting both countries national anthems.

Yesterday in London the American National Anthem is played and the NFL Ravens and Jaguars kneel in disrespect to the National Anthem the American flag, the Constitution and the those who served in the military and paid the ultimate sacrifice. The the British national anthem "God Save the Queen" is played and the Ravens and Jaguars stood up during the playing of "God Save the Queen."

NFL protest comes to Wembley as players kneel during national anthem in defiance of Donald Trump
Players from the Jaguars and the Ravens stood for God Save The Queen - after they had kneeled for the US anthem

I don't think they were wrong to do that, they perceived the Mayor's office as not supporting law enforcement(and that was in fact, a correct presumption.) In this case, it started with the wrong perception of racial discrimination, and now it's spiraled into something stupid and out of control(okay, thanks to Trump.)

But if not Trump, some other figure would've been like "Stop it", though probably wouldn't have said "son of a bitches".

Except Management criticized him for exercising his right, they didn't criticize those who kneeled or didn't even show up until after the anthem.

It is traditional that the whole team exits the tunnel and "takes the field" together. He came just outside the entrance to the tunnel. Meh ... splitting hairs.

Alejandro Villanueva was the only real man on the whole team. But then ... he's put a lot more than this on the line for his country before. Hell, this was an easy decision for a man like him.

Nonsense. This started before Trump was even President. It spiraled out of control because the media ran with the BS that Michael Brown was shot while his hands were in the air. Because the liberals jumped on the bandwagon belief that the police were out to kill black people, when in fact they kill more white people. Police kill blacks in the same proportion that Blacks commit crimes.

I don't think they were wrong to see racial discrimination towards blacks. Hell, we see it right on this board, AN.

But no matter what, I will always support someone's right to peacefully protest, whether it's football players, school kids, Nazis or Antifa thugs. The key is it has to be peaceful. And nobody can make the argument that the football players aren't being peaceful. They are.

I'll take your word for it. I don't recall Obama disrespecting the flag on national TV. Did he burn it? Use it to wipe his nose? Hang it upside down? What?

Kaepernick dragged his disrespect for the National Anthem into football. Kaepernick is not a politician. Kaepernick does not hold an elected office. Therefore, as I said, there was no politics in this dopey debate about racism and the flag and football until the politician (aka President Trump) brought politics into it.
