So, what kinds of racial discrimination? If it's how the police conduct themselves, they'd be better off arranging a town hall meeting with a mayor or something, or addressing the police chief's. What, exactly, does this accomplish? Let's forget Trump for a minute. Let's say I agree with them and I want to be a social activist for their cause. What the bleep is this doing to advance it?

It's not doing anything. Are people aware? Yes. Are they inclined to participate? No, as we see from the ratings. They'd be better off with a promotional video of a white and black children together, saying "it could be yours"(there, I even pulled on the heartstrings.) There's social activism, and then there's what they're doing. Counterproductive to the goal.

It just happens to give a middle finger to the country's symbol at the same time. Not winning.

Not a fan of Tomlin (I hate the Steelers) but I did a little searching since you shared the quote (thanks again, by the way):

According to Fox, “Tomlin told the media that, prior to kickoff Sunday, the Steelers held a team meeting and decided, though not unanimously, to not come out of the locker room for the national anthem. Tomlin added the intent was to have his team focus on the game and not President Trump’s comments blasting players who chose to protest during the playing of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

    Tomlin said after the game:

Many of them felt like something needed to be done. I asked those guys to discuss it and whatever they discussed that we have 100 percent participation or we do nothing. They discussed it for an appropriate length of time and they couldn’t come to an understanding, so they chose to remove themselves from it. They were not going to be disrespectful in the anthem so they chose not to participate, but at the same time many of them were not going to accept the words of the president.

Villanueva clearly had a different mentality about what the anthem meant for him.

Tomlin continued, “We’re not politicians. We’re coaches and professional athletes. If those of us or individuals choose to participate in politics in some way, I’m going to be supportive of that. But when we come out of locker rooms, we come out of locker rooms to play football games.”

    I like his last line.

Breitbart (which is where I got that from) was somewhat hyperbolic that Tomlin "ripped" or "rapped" Villanueva.

The Trump Tool should have stayed above the fray and keot his remarks above board and professional and nit oersonal. The Trump Turd should never have singled out players and never shoukd have attacked players personnaly.

I can't answer what kind of racial discrimination. You'd have to ask them.

What does kneeling at the football game during the anthem accomplish? Not sure. But it's their right to do it. And in the grand scheme of things, it isn't any big deal.

My kids all play sports, mostly hockey and soccer and lacrosse. When they do play the anthem, there are very few people who hold their hands over their hearts. I don't talk during the anthem, but I also don't necessarily put my hand over my heart when it's playing. I love this country and don't need to be part of a ceremony to know that.

    You know your history.

Do you think the NFL players and team owners might be right wing British Tories ?

No mention of politics anywhere. No ask of politicians. No demands of politicians. Just like the Chik-Fil-A protests.

It wasn't political until your superhero reality TV game show host crush made it political.

What a swell guy he is.

No politics involved at all, huh?

Yeah, that was a recent amendment to Title 36 U.S. Code § 301. American military veterans can now allowed to render the military salute during the National Anthem. While all other non vets will put their right hand over their heart.

And Politifact rated it a lie.

You really hate the Obamas, don't you? I get it. They're black.

Woah, this really is going to sting all these Trump lovers who are weeping over Villanueva:

Villanueva says he asked quarterback Ben Roethlisberger if he could be out in front with the captains during the national anthem and they agree to it.

He says he turned around when the Bears fan flag came in, and looked back to his teammates but the anthem had already started.

“I made my teammates look bad, and that is my fault only,” Villanueva said.

The former Army Ranger says he is absolutely okay if teammates kneel or sit during the national anthem.

He says some players who have been kneeling during anthems have approached him after or before games and thanked him for his service.

It's a really bad week to be a Trump devotee.

You should get to your geriatric doctor soon so you don't quote yourself and post to yourself.

I love Lib spin. It is so out-of-touch with reality. Kaepernick was making a political statement. He started this during Obama's time. Trump just said what every American is saying. Do NOT bring politics into sports, especially when it's a farce.

We saw a real man has no doubt seen his military brother killed or wounded while serving our country -- my guess is he simply felt he could not disrespect the flag regardless of what a coach thought His military experience apparently trumped (no pun intended) the game of football. Tomlin's approach was to disrespect the flag and pretend he was not disrespecting the flag.

I'll just say this about that. I don't know why you don't necessarily put your hand over your heart, but I can tell you why I do. I don't do it because I feel like I have to. I do it because I want to. I do it because I think of it as a privilege to stand for a couple of minutes among my fellow Americans and render this gesture of respect for our country. I too don't need to be a part of the ceremony to know that I love my country, but I find the ceremony moving, and I want to be a part of it.

My son has lost 30 comrades in arms during his deployments. I attended some of their funerals. Usually, as I stand there during the anthem, I think of them with a deep sense of thankfulness, humility, and respect, all of it tinged with sadness. That's where my mind wanders to during the anthem .... to those guys who gave everything.

And then I see these guys on their f:censored:ing knees, and I feel nothing but disgust.

My great uncle was a POW on the Bataan Death March. He couldn't talk about it in later years, and if it even came up, he couldn't utter two words without crying. That's when I knew I could never support Trump. The man who "likes people who weren't captured" desecrated the memory of my great uncle and his comrades. I feel nothing but disgust for Trump because of his words, so I understand what you've posted here.

I love lib spin too. Not sure why you thought to quote me and tell me that.

You're right, don't bring politics into sports. Something that Trump should have learned a long time ago. But he didn't. And now it's blowing up in his face. Sad.
