Republican Joe Arpaio, a close ally of President Trump and former sheriff known for his provocative approach to combatting illegal immigration, is running for Senate in Arizona. The 85-year-old Arpaio could shake up the late August Republican primary in a critical open-seat race to replace retiring Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz. Trump pardoned Arpaio last summer, sparing the former sheriff jail time after he was convicted of ignoring a federal court order in a racial-profiling case. The polarizing yet iconic former Maricopa County sheriff, beloved by many conservatives for his hawkish immigration policies, presents an alternative to the unimpressive Kelli Ward and a potential obstacle to Rep. Martha McSally. She is expected to launch within days and is widely viewed as the Republicans’ strongest general election candidate. Jesus christ he is ancient. ****ing retire. I am so sick of these old people ruining my country while they try to stay relevant. Get the **** out!
No he's not. He was convicted for criminal contempt of court. That carries up to 6 months in jail, therefore would be classified as a misdemeanor.
Is there a cut off date where when you reach the date, you plan to totally stay out of this countries affairs and it's politics? We have far less problem with the elderly than we have with those under the age of 35.
A couple of whack jobs - Joe Arpaio vs. Kelli Ward in the Arizona Republican primary. This will be good....
So you never studied the presidential pardon!!!! When Gov. Jerry Brown pardoned some felons, even at his level, the pardon is absolute. Trump has the power to wipe the slate clean. It is the same thing as if Arpaio never was convicted of ignoring some order. Bear in mind how often Obama ignored orders.
Many of the idiot lib/prog/dim/ ilk want JJ jr. to run for president and ignorantly thinkbelieve he would be a good and viable candidate. Is that convicted felon even out of jail yet?
You should look up pardon. Besides, you actually can be a felon and run for a seat. https://www.factcheck.org/2008/11/felons-in-office/ Half of the candidates running for mayor of Detroit are felons. http://www.detroitnews.com/story/ne...oral-candidates-felony-convictions/104244406/ Democrat Joseph Ganim. Felon. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2015/11/from-prison-to-the-mayors-office/414214/ There are others.
I dismiss that form of opinion. Seriously, do you ever win with talk of that nature? Many of the public were pleased that Arpaio treated criminals better than the criminals treated their victims. But he did it with style.
Ted Stevens Re-elected, ‘Senator Convicted Felon’ http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/ted_stevens_re-elected_senator_convicted_felon/
What is the name of that felon mayor of DC who kept getting elected? Heck, the Democrats would run out of candidates if they banned the felons.
No. These old people need to ****ing retire. Their outdated ideas and their rob-the-young mentality needs to go. I am sick and tired of our government looking like a bunch of teetering corpses.
But you want to still be involved when you are looking like a teetering corpse? What date is too old when applied to yourself? I keep in touch with a 98 year old man who is extremely sharp of mind. And he has a lot more experience than myself or you. What makes a person good at what age in your way of thinking?
How is either claim incorrect? https://www.aclu.org/blog/immigrant...arpaio-should-not-receive-presidential-pardon http://life-span.healthgrove.com/l/86/85
