I have not watched any hockey, but after missing several weeks of NFL games I turned one on this Sunday and after a little more than one quarter turned it off. What had previously been riveting was now boring. It was not thoughts of the boycott that made the game boring. Rather after missing several games the game has become boring for reasons that are not 100% clear to me. The prattle from the announcers is boring (do they get paid by the word), the post-touchdown gyrations seem to be low class -- the bottom line is I no longer care if my home team wins or suffers an ignoble defeat. It is just a game - and a slow moving one with too many commercials, replays, penalties, and so forth.

Can you back up that claim? NFL viewership skews slightly right. Certainly not the 'vast majority'. College football skews further right than the NFL.

Personally, any Trumplodyte who pretends to be offended by the NFL players kneeling for the national anthem are either raging ret@rds or pathetic hypocrites, especially in light of Donnie Sh1tstain refusing to get off his azs for the lowering of the flag on a military installation.

I alternately watch the NYR & NYI whenever their games are presented online as I do not have cable and these presentations are for free. When neither team is playing, I'll watch NJD. In total, it's about 4 games for every NFL game I watch per week.

You 'cut the cable'? Good for you.

I want to...but I would lose SO many sports games/races that I just cannot bring myself to do it.

    Yet.....

    have you tried these:

    cricfree.sc

    http://furby-nation-tv.ucoz.com/

    https://www.vipboxtv.me/

There are MANY more - note that these channels are FREE in Europe and they present these sports channels on their sites. Through these you can get FREE pay-per-view sports and other events. Just yesterday I watched WWE's "Survivor Series" and it was a decent show.

JEEZ man...how did you find all these? They are awesome. Not HD...but still awesome. I may just cut the cord after all because there is NOTHING on tv - besides sports - that I cannot watch online (that I want to watch).

    Thanks VERY much.

I've been on these sites for many years - google FREE online sports websites as there are plenty more. But these three are my top ones.

A bit of advice - use ABP or some other advertisement block. But do NOT indicate that you are using a blocker as the admins rely on revenues from ads.

Our whole convo was strictly on whether Obama was a warmonger or not. You said he wasn’t. I said his words say he isn’t but his actions say they are and showed that.

There is literally nothing to wait for. His record is complete. Fini. Done. Completed.

Hope you’re able to overcome your bias. Maybe one day.

Thank you! I'm obligated to stay on cable through 2018 but when this last 'sweetheart-deal' expires, I plan on getting rid of cable, too.

Your observations are very similar to mine, although I have been watching every Colorado Avalanche NHL Hockey Game.

I was especially struck by your comment that the whole NFL football 'milieu' is now so BORING. The announcer commentary, the post-touchdown antics, etc., plus all the end-on-end series of commercials and other endless interruptions to game-play. You struck a very resonant chord in me!

By contrast, NHL Hockey is rapid-paced, exciting, and never, ever boring. I still don't understand why some 'hits' are allowed and others are ignored, and hockey's "off-sides" rules seem strange to me, mostly because everything is moving so fast that I'm not sure what being "off-sides" has to do with anything. But, man -- hockey sure holds my interest, and without all the political propaganda and "guerilla theater" of the BLM activists.

At the end of this 2017 season, I really think that the NFL owners need to "flush their own toilet" and get rid of the America-hating BLM morons. That is especially true of the team I used to love most of all, the Denver Broncos.

Many feel this way, it's the biggest reason that ratings are down. Seeing my team pretty much give up in the second half of a game against the rival Eagles doesn't make me look forward to next weeks slate of games. It's all about the product and nothing (or very, very little) to do with kneeling.

I may be able to help with offsides.

The team with the puck(offense) can’t go into the defenses end(the blue line indicates each teams “end” of the rink) until the puck has entered first(must completely pass the blue line). It really is that simple.

Now they do have delayed offisides, and they even have a penalty(or did) for purposefully doing it, but those are for another time. If you’d like, I can try to explain those, but it’s a bit more intricate.

I appreciate you explaining 'off sides' in hockey to me. I'm really new at watching ice hockey now, although like many people in Colorado, I loved watching the Colorado Avalanche win the Stanley Cup in their first season as a team here. I watched, I cheered, and I really understood nothing. Then I returned to watching football and baseball.

I will try scanning the internet for some good tutorials on ice hockey, and I won't ask you to try to go into teaching me, although I do greatly appreciate you willingness to help me.

Most surprising to me is how the officials will sometimes let two players just beat the living hell out of each other, but at other times they simply break the fight up. And, sometimes there are penalties (and even expulsions from the game and long power-plays), but at other times, they just wait for the fight to end and then have a new face-off. It really is an exciting game!

The fight one really depends on the ref and their location when the scuffle starts. If they are in and amongst all the players, they will try and seperate them but when they break away and start going at it, there’s not much they can do until it’s over. Once someone hits the ice, it’s supposed to be over.

If you get into too many fights in a game, you get tossed. There are instigator penalties(where one guy wasn’t trying to fight and the other guy just starts wailing anyways, and there’s also more to it than that as well), and being the third person into a fight(two guys going at it, a third joins the fracas and starts going off on the guy too).

I learned what I know by watching a lot of hockey, and I do mean a lot. I didn’t miss a game for a decade. Watched every one I didn’t attend. It helps when you get yourself a new franchise and the local announcers help explain the rules as well. Of course we had two of the best guys in the booth, so that helped too.

We got our franchise in ‘93. Go Stars!

Great! I should note that not only are the channels free in Europe, all PPV shows are free as well. There are at least one or two pay-per-view sports events every week. These normally cost $60 per show or over $200-300.00 per month. Now you can get them for free! :)

As for fights, it has always been an accepted part of the game. In the past an entire line (three forwards composed of a center and two wings) would engage in fights. However, nowadays fights are almost always restricted to one designated fighter per team. The players have been asked, should fighting be banned and the majority have said, NO.

Thanks again, Sage. I really appreciate your point of view as a dedicated fan with lots of experience in observing this game.

And, Holy Cow, the Dallas Stars are coming to the Pepsi Center here in Denver to play the Av's tomorrow at 7PM Mountain Time. You've got a very good team, but we're developing quickly, and I'm thinking that Semyon Varlamov will be our goal-tender tomorrow. That may give us a slight advantage, plus playing at home where the Av's tend to do much better than on the road.

Thanks again for your insight and thoughts about what's what in this game.

We are up and down. We haven’t been really good since the late 90’s when we won the cup and were in the western conference finals most years.

Lately... it’s been rough. We did re-hire our cup-winning coach(Ken Hitchcock), but who knows how long that will last. He was run out of town the last time because of his harshness on players. He did turn Mike Modano into one of the best two-way players(and helped him cement his legacy as best American born hockey player) though. Before Hitch Mo was just a scorer.

Since you will probably be listening to your guys do the color and play by play, you should google Razor Reaugh and watch some hilarious comments(that puck hit him in the bait and tackle, like poop through a diarrhea infected goose, damn Razor makes me laugh so much).

Can't agree, rugby(union) is a better game to play and watch.
Cricket is a great game too, even when Cook is out for 2 in the 3rd over.
I love the Ashes, greatest rivalry in international sport. 69 series played, Eng 32 wins, Aus 32 wins and 5 drawn series. You couldn't write a script like that...

I never said it would "kill" the NFL but they better fix it within a few years or it will seriously impact their bottom line.

I have stated all along that I believe kneeling will be forbidden in the next CBA, but that is still 3+ years away. Not much the league can do until then.

People stopped watching the NFL because they can tell it's rigged.

Brain damage will kill the NFL. Even people like Brett Farve say that knowing what we know now, and based on the latest evidence, they wouldn't want their kids playing football [Farve has two daughters, hence the qualifier].

That football should be banned for kids is a no brainer [pun intended].
