All the protests in the world will never have any effect unless the police and other agencies do their jobs properly, and are expected to do their jobs properly. School shootings have increased over the past few decades, it was something completely unknown at one time, despite all the increased regulations over the past couple of decades. As uncomfortable as it might be for some, the problem might run deeper than just more gun regulations.
A crazy man can walk in and purchase a weapon of mass destruction any day of the week, and hose down dozens of innocent people. That isn't a deep problem. That is an obvious problem.
As expected, our conservative friends think of holding tight to their beloved guns first, and personally attack the victims next. I wonder what their reaction would be if one of their kids was victim, or friend of a victim of a mass school shooting. Would they change their tune? Or just tell their kids to stop being a snowflake and suck it up? My guess: They just can't think far enough to be aware that this violence can affect them too. Just as they are unable to comprehend that they, sometime in the future, may need the social safety net. Putting themselves in other people's shoes seems to be REALLY difficult for them. I have no idea why?
The problem of violence in inner cities has to do with drugs. It is a different issue that we have tried to address for a long time. Strict gun control would help to end some of the violence because when there are less guns in circulation, there will be less access to illegal guns. But the real problem is the drug culture. We have two separate issues: the gun culture and the drug culture. The left has been trying to solve the drug problem for a long time.
They want anyone on the NRA payroll out of office. Their goal is simple and clear. As one young man said, they are after everyone on the NRA payroll. They won't be held as collateral any longer.
The war on drugs became a war on the cities. Legalize drugs and most of the violence would be gone in a year or two. It's all about the money.
There are more guns than people in the US. Maybe the fact that America has doubled this amount in a pretty short amount of time has something to do with it. Too much of a good thing can be bad right?
Perhaps the problem is why he does it and how does he get away with it. What signs were there that may have prevented this from happening, what motivated him, what role does the media pay, the entertainment industry, the class, social and cultural divisions and the effect of broken families on society. This latest incident could have been prevented had the FBI been more aggressive in following up the tips which were provided. The school may have set off warning bells when he was expelled or the police might have confiscated his weapons at some point during their 36 visits, or contacted another social agency to look into this guys obviously troubled head.
Because they have a personality disorder: anti-social personality. "Antisocial personality disorder (ASPD or APD) is a personality disorder characterized by a long term pattern of disregard for, or violation of, the rights of others." For them, their right to own a gun overrides others' rights to a secure and safe environment. They have a complete disregard for the rights of others when it impedes their right to own a firearm.
Increased number of guns, increased accidents, increased illegal trafficking, increased killing, increased chance of people who shouldn't have them getting them, increased power, increased size and capacity So tell me where the problem is
This. We are about 10 miles from this school. My son lost an acquaintance and knows others who lost good friends. Let the kids be.
Guns are not ''banned'' for the majority of UK subjects (we are not citizens) Anyone without a serious criminal record can apply for a licence but they must prove a need for one and an ability to comply with regulations on storage of guns and ammo. If you hunt or need to keep down pests such as rats or rabbits you will have no problem obtaining a gun so long as you comply with the regulations. Guns are seen as a privilage not a right. This is why gun crime is exceedingly rare and gun deaths are fewer than 100 a year.
What with speaking for all white peeps, speaking for all black peeps, speaking for all Muslims, and now speaking for the kids who didn't get shot it's a busy life for the Trumpists.
I saw a study by Pew research ... 42% of all US households possess at least 1 firearm. Other studies report the number as being higher. These horrific episodes are the exeption, not the rule.
