Why do you believe in God ?

I just don't think of it as a big deal one way or the other as God can neither be proven nor disproven by science. Thus it boils down to personal preference. If one prefers the notion that there is no intelligence-directed organization or will in regards to -- for instance -- physics or life or death then God does not exist. If it comforts one, however, to consider an overarching intellect in charge of everything then God does exist. It harms nothing either way.

I find people who believe that these people who were dying saw God etc. as gullible. There are people who have these experiences all the time. I remember my poor dad would have all these hallucinations near death seeing people in the house etc. some people would say that was proof that there was an afterlife and there was God. But no it’s just damage to the brain. We have people in mental hospitals who hear voices all the time. Do you believe them

Religious people condemn the sins they commit that nobody else knows about, they condemn the sins they don’t commit, and they never forgive others, the same sins they do commit.

'universal spirit or higher power' is far far far from a personal god overseeing mankind or even the universe for that matter.

 

Wiping out almost the whole human race along with most of the animal lives by means of downing due to having a bad hair day in my favor reason to view the Christian god with total contempt.

 

Some of us separate from GOD the notion of overseeing mankind. We believe in personal accountability and free will.
