Never owned a Cockatoo or known anyone who had one, but you've sold me on the idea of getting one one day.
We're still in nomination phase here. Though, speaking of which, that's about to be over. Last call for nominations! In a bit here, I'm going to add letters to all the nominated options. At the same time I'll be putting up a multi-choice forum poll at the top of the page. So there's going to be two different ways to vote here. Post the letters of the options in your order of preference. That'll count as your ranked vote. But then you should also pick all the options in the poll at the top of which you'd approve of own. That'll count as your approval vote. Don't worry though, if you forget to vote in both places, I'll try to remind you. -Meta
Alrighty, so yeah...I may have went a bit overboard with that last batch of nominations...especially considering that the built in approval portion is limited to only 20 options. So...retracting several more of my nominations. RIP Turtle, Lizard, Crab, Frog, Ferret, Pig, Rodent, and Leopard. Hope no one was looking forward to voting for any of those. But if you were, feel free to include them (or other non-listed animal) as a "write-in" when posting your rankings. Anyways, letters are assigned. Let the Voting Begin! Remember that for this particular vote, there are two things you have to do in order to fully participate. 1. Post the letters for your favorite pets in order of preference. Ex: C, B, A 2. Check off the boxes in the poll at the top of the page next to any animals you'd approve of owning and submit. Thanks! What is the Best Pet to Own?: A. Dog B. Cat C. Fish #. Alolan Weedle D. Female Black Labrador E. Female Mini Dachshund F. Labrador Retriever G. Golden Retriever H. Retriever I. Beagle J. Cockatoo K. Wombat L. Pomeranian M. Maine Coon Norwegian Forest Cat N. MalShi O. Maltese P. Bird Q. Hamster R. Herding Dog S. Snake T. Tarantula -Meta
I'll start. D, F, G, H, R, I, A, J, B, M, E, S, T, N, O, P, K I ranked (almost) everything again, but as always, you guys can rank however many you want. -Meta
K, and yeah, I'm hearing a lot of good things about the Cockatoo. So for the ranking portion, I'll mark you down as: A, B, J
We were able to train the male to do lots of things, like whistle the theme to the Twilight Zone, and he loved people. We would hang his cage outside sometimes and one day the kid next door, who was a problem kid anyway, came over and was hitting the bottom of the cage to aggravate him and knocked the cage off the hook and the bird flew up into a tree even though his wings were still trimmed a little. We tried a couple of days to coax him back down but he eventually flew off. The female was a bitch, she was not very friendly and we eventually gave her away. Man now I'm thinking about getting another one!
Spiders are smart. They actually think. I have watched them evade capture by my cat. Not sure about them being pets. Spiders are at least as smart as reptiles.
I've owner cats, dogs, rabbits, fish and birds. Though I've never owned one I would pick the Golden Retriever as my favorite.
My favorite are jumping spiders. How can you not find these guys adorable? But yeah, they probably wouldn't make for very good pets... -Meta
You should post a ranked vote too, with Malshi (option N) at the top. That way, even if the Malshi doesn't win first place in the approval vote it can still get a bump up in the rankings on the others. -Meta
@Moi621 @yiostheoy @AlifQadr @modernpaladin Hey guys, I noticed you all posted a submission in the approval portion of the vote. But havn't posted a ranked vote yet. Did you want to post a ranked vote as well? You don't have to or anything, I just want to make sure that you all know that you can. If you don't provide a ranking though, just know that your vote wont count towards three out of the four tallies at the end of voting (IRO, RP, Plurality). -Meta
Those little guys r smart too! All spiders get taken outside and dumped on the other side if the creek except for jumpers. I take jumpers inside to eat the widows and hobos. I wouldnt classify them as pets tho.
I had one jumper that lived in the living room for over a year. One time he almost drowned in the dog water bowl (we barely saved him) and another time we found him almost dead in an empty jar (saved again). He was HUGE. I figure he prolly paid us back by eating a lot of other spiders.
