Must politics get this dirty? Can't Democrats coach their members to act civil? If the qualification to be picked up by Uber means only Democrats will be carried, just post it on the internet, tell the newspapers and perhaps a sign on the cab.

    What do you think?

It's unfortunate, and the driver should be taken off Uber services.

So - how is this different than the baker who refused to serve the gay couple?

Do you mean the gay couple the Supreme Court ruled gets no cake?

Guess that ruling would apply to the conservative dudes who get no ride. Maybe you should have thought of that EARLIER.

I see leftists still refuse to see the difference between offering to sell anything in inventory to a gay couple instead of a special order cake, and driving said gay couple to a gas station and abandoning them.

I'd have made him try and get me out of the vehicle.

Each drive is a special order location. You fail. Again.

Was the gas station their destination?

Was the driver asked to do something outside of what is offered to all patrons?

    No?

Still refusing to accept reality, but that's ok, I'm used to dealing with it.

Since it his his car, his property, most courts would have seen you as trespassing.

Was the gay couple asking for something outside normal operations (baking wedding cakes)?
Not until the conditions of the wedding cake was changed.
The conditions inside the car changed. Once the passengers revealed their sexual preferences (political preferences) The driver felt his services were being abused or their request constituted an affront to his beliefs.

I'm not saying the driver was right. Just pointing out the court case could apply in both instances.

Of course businesses should have the right to refuse to serve people they don't want to serve.

If someone wants only the business of people who don't like Donald Trump, or the only the business of those who do ... what's wrong with that? They'll have to compete with other businesses that will take anyone's money. But if they're willing to restrict their customer base in this way, that's their business.

Wait do you think I believe the driver should question as to political party and if only Democrat give the ride?

I suggested ways the cabbies might do this.

Why wouldn't the young Republicans simply call another driver who would serve them? Isn't that mantra of conservatives on the cake baking case?

Uber's contracts give the drivers right of refusal of service.

He didn't refuse service. He agreed to the terms of the pickup and drop off locations when he took the job.

Then he used it to basically abduct someone and take them, against their will, to a different location.

This guy is going to get wrecked in court. Could very well be a felony.

Keep up the resistance though, because we're going to wreck you.

Yeah I mean if the baker had led them into the freezer and locked them in it would have been basically the same as refusing service.

Democrats approve being evicted at the improper destination. But we know better. :rock_slayer:

I'd have called the police as soon as he started going the wrong way and told them I might be under abduction.

The Young Republicans were free to go about their business and call another driver who would service them - just like the gay couple was free to walk out the door and
    find another baker. Right?

Happens all the time in Taxis when drunk passengers start puking in the cab. We only have one side of the story - if the Young Republicans were making derogatory remarks or
being ass-hats, or drunk (they were coming from a convention)? You don't know what the driver was dealing with.

The uber driver broke contract and abducted someone.

I'm just sorry this didn't happen to me.

Haha yeah that's the only tack you have to work with. Go ahead and grab onto that and test your full body weight on it.

I gotta get more details on this so I can follow the court case.

The passengers were free to go about their business. Taxis cut rides short all the time when passengers become offensive or start puking in their cab.
