Ah yes. That tired old tale of folks running to the sound of gunfire while others hide behind a computer and preach about welfare. lol
New people to the forum who lose an argument always result to the grammar attack. hurts dem lil feelins
Well certainly not! I just thought it was pertinent to offer examples other than always catholic Priest! I hope it wasn't to much of a shock finding out there were other choices you could have chosen from
A lot of states still have laws on the books where crimes other than murder are punishable by death. Most are not enforced and considered archaic and cruel. This trend began in the early part of the 20th century and as capital punishment fell out of favor the more perverse and hideous crimes became and continue to do so to this day. It's important to note that the same folks that want to ban guns, are in favor of abortion, are also opponents of the death penalty. Here in Massachusetts in saner times (before 1930) any sex crime got you life without parole, no exceptions no BS. The idea that sexual deviance (except homosexuality) was treatable became popular in the early thirties and those that supported that also opposed lifetime incarceration for sex crimes. Guess what political persuasion these folks were. As I said, the more permissive our society became the more severe and twisted crime became. Today violent crime is so commonplace we have become inured to that almost jaded and seldom read past the headlines. It's getting worse and if we don't have the political will to do something about it could become uncontrollable. I think we need to junk weak state laws and make the death penalty the law of the land.
Yes....thanks for bringing up something from over 300 years ago. Sorry people keep bringing up pedophile priests to you.
Sadly USA spends over $600 Billion per year on Defense -- that is a waste of resources. I am a US Citizen since 1990(1?), but I do not consider myself an American. I am Jewish.
Or thanks for making the point that pedophiles have been around for centuries and haven't been confined to the Catholic deity And you're welcome!
Interesting. I don't think I'd be satisfied with less than life w/o parole. And I understand that victims of violent crimes may want the killer dead. That is a normal human reaction. But there is a more important principle at stake: Never give a government the power to kill it's own people. That is how you prevent things like Tiananmen square, Nazi Germany, and tyrannical rule that can victimize millions of people. That is more important than vengeance. Anyone who cries about big government and the Nanny State, who supports the death penalty, is a hypocrite. Killing people is the most extreme example of big government and Big Brother. And I say that as a conservative. I was pro death penalty when I was a child. Then I grew up and learned the facts of life. Governments are far more dangerous than any individual.
Today it would have to be a non latex rubber glove discarded in a bio hazard container after contact was made.
Nah...I'll stick with mentioning the scumbag catholic priests who preyed upon kids and tried to cover it up
