    Definitely, even soldiers guilty of war crimes should be judged considering the extreme stress of war they were in.

    Nazi war criminals obviously deserve the death penalty, for example.

    And to not give them the death penalty because you have forgiven them is wrong in my view.

    Definitely most soldiers are heroes rather then criminals to their country. If they are captured, the captor may treat them as war criminals.

    I mean that's a very difficult question to answer. I think that's why murderers and rapists are put on trial so the judge can determine their punishment individually. Some people qualify for the death penalty, while others only for life in prison, or a long prison sentence.

    I come from a military family. Take offense. It's the truth. I have a cousin who retired at 40ish from the Navy and has a sweet pension. It's welfare.

    You believe that retiring from a government job is welfare.

    I believe it's a kickass reward for decades of service.

    20 years of training, deployments, risking your life...

    Not a bad way to collect a paycheck. PLUS, we can move to the private sector :)

    Risking your life. That is a tired old tale. The military is a welfare state and the ones risking their lives is a very small percentage.
