The problem with eugenics is the same as free speech! Who decides? And before people say doctors! Mengle was a doctor... You can't give an inch otherwise they take a mile. We must never draw a line on these matters because lines move!
They are not freaks, unfortunates maybe but not freaks Nature is not always kind and not all pregnancies result I'd a perfect little baby
Hmmmmm someone who does not know what a dictionary is otherwise they would have looked up a term like "Eugenics" before using it in this context
Raising freaks that will ultimately fall upon society as a burden is not a valid choice. Having a retarded pet human in inhumane.
I agree that the care the child received should be limited so as to " let nature take its course" Thing is though there is very little between this case and Charlie Gard except that here you can see the deficit
Question: If this woman's condition had been discovered at 24 weeks in the womb, should she have been aborted? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/a...uses-skin-grow-seven-times-faster-normal.html
If she wants. This is often about compassion. For every one child who makes it to adulthood how many babies die screaming in pain?
Drawing the line between a mercy killing and murder can be a dicey thing. Then throw Abortion into the mix, "When does personhood begin?" and everything really gets kind of ethically blurry. This woman did end up living a happy productive life. Albeit that may not be the case for many others diagnosed as babies with her condition. Do you terminate because it will probably be the merciful thing to do? We could be talking a late gestation baby here. I'm willing to concede that abortion should probably be allowed at a later gestational date if some extreme abnormality is detected, but I'd still feel very uncomfortable aborting "late late" with some of these borderline medical conditions. An abnormality doesn't necessarily automatically mean the human being will never be able to have any semblance of a happy decent life. Though the case may be different in other poorer countries. (thread about that here)
NO, it does not. Personhood doesn't start until birth....see how not blurry that is? Abortion is legal until 24 weeks....see how not blurry that is? After 24 weeks abortion is legal if the life/health of woman and/or fetus is in jeopardy....see how not blurry that is? Yes, it can get complicated that's why we leave it up to the person whose body we're discussing, the pregnant woman's....nobody's business but hers. Why do you think it's any concern of yours? It doesn't affect you in anyway? Do you really sit around and feel bad 24/7 because some fetuses are aborted without your approval??
Again this is about compassion. Many many people would rather death than a life of horrific pain Thi sis a baby with harelqinn icthyosis. Like all genetic disorders there are degree of gene expression
The question then becomes, what type of conditions exactly justify abortion? A few of these conditions can be really borderline. Do you believe that low IQ justifies abortion? How much lower does it have to be? Do you believe ADHD justifies abortion? What if intrauterine testing has identified a possible medical condition but it can't do so with 100% accuracy? Maybe there's an 80% chance an unborn child will have a terrible condition, or maybe it's only 20%.
SIMPLE! The woman whose body it is in decides what to do....there wasn't that easy and you don't have to butt into her life at all!!!!!!
Euthanasia has nothing to do with "personhood" and I am using euthanasia I. It's original context of "gentle death"
Mostly it comes down to quality of life WTF Has inter uterine bleeding to do wiypth deciding on Palliative care?
You can impose a gentle death on your enemies; that doesn't mean it's right. Anyway, I'd hardy call a lot of these abortion procedures "gentle", in what happens to the fetus.
You do realize that they will jail a pregnant woman if she's taking crack, and not only that, they will file an additional charge because she was pregnant while she was putting those harmful substances into her body. The punishment is going to be much more severe for a pregnant woman.
Yes it does. Where that is warranted Many palliative situations trying to feed them ends in aspiration. Food in the windpipe and the lungs Suggestion Volunteer in a hospital foe a while and learn reality rather than just reading from sites that are making stuff up
