What happens next time s the only question now. And that will depend hugely on what the Dems do in the house. If they couble down on stupid like the majority of the more rabid members of their base want they will so piss off the independents that their slim majority on the house will evaporate, if they try to work with repubs and Trump they'll so piss off that fickle base of theirs that they won't show. The dems are now stuck in the middle of an interesting little catch 22. Impeaching Trump won't do anything as the Senate won't convict. The only good thing to come out of this is mueller might now turn in his report and that illegitimate investigation will come to an end.
