I absolutely hate W as a President, but whether it was W, Obama, or whoever... nobody but Trump has ever stood behind the podium and spoken with the the toxicity and flat out disregard for even the appearance of being truthful that Trump brings. It's not Acosta's job, or mine, or anyone else's to sit and accept that toxicity and lying because it's coming from an elected official. Exactly the opposite. And it's the toxicity and lying that are the disgrace to the office, not the fact that the person holding that office is being called out. When the next Dem president tells an obvious lie, absolutely they need to be called out for it. Suggesting the alternative strikes me as absurd. I'm not going to sit and be lied to by an elected official out of respect for the office that official holds. Are you really suggesting that the sanctity of an office ought to empower an elected official the unchallenged ability to speak toxiclly and lie to us, his employers?
There is an existing Thread about this (started by moi) but I guess that does not matter. Watch that video closely at the start and on for a tad. The woman is seated in the back of the room. For a reason inexplicable forensically (likely a tip off to Trump from advisors) she moves from there to the front.....then STRIDENTLY marches to the bloke and attempts to take the microphone which he lawfullly possesses. Is possession of that microhone within her power to give and take away? Who the hell is she? And in any event, he did not assault her as the ridiculous alternative fact wanker and his machine promulgates......instead, in the most minimalist way, with courtesy (something she so obviouslly lacked) "Excuse me Ma'am," ~ he held the mic. Fair bloody dinkum.....is this the level to which Donald has reduced the US. Can you blokes not see how petty and absurd that all is?
My EXACT POINT, Thank you. The reporter was considerate, not over talking anyone, not interrupting the President, and not interrupting another reporter. This is exactly how a reporter respects the office
The reporter also got a reasonable reply. There's nothing wrong in pushing Trump or Sanders for the reasonable reply that we very often never get, or in challenging the very obvious lie that we very often Do get instead. Also, accusing the President with being content with the suffering of American citizens hardly seems respectful. That reporters tone of voice may not have been as combative as Accosta's but then that reporter didn't need to be as Obama's tone wasn't as combative as Trump's. I have no idea how anybody could hold the President to a lower standard than a reporter.
Really, Oh how quick we forget You wouldn't be referring to things like Telling family members and the world that Chris Stevens was killed because of an internet video, weaponizing the IRS against Conservative business owners, Fast and furious gunwalking program, VA's deadly waiting lists for veterans, sending plane loads of cash to Iran, trading an American traitor releasing 5 ISIS fighters, And the list goes on and on. Pleassssssse Your precious Obama lied as much (if not more) than any other president. Never even refereed to that. You can ask any question you want but you will be respectful. If you think you are going to have a showdown with the president and ask as many questions as you want because you aren't going to sit there and be lied to then you will be escorted out of the White House and your credentials pulled. If you are trying to convince me that Acosta has been civil as a White House reporter I really don't see how debating this any further is going to convince you of anything.
Where do I make him out to be precious? Fake News. And again, between a president telling obvious lies and a reporter calling him out on those lies, your issue is somehow with the reporter because you don't like the tone of voice? The president is telling obvious lies... That is what is important. That is where you ought to be outraged!
You mean like EVERY other president has done. Obama was no exception. Sorry. Additionally, you seem to forget the history of Acosta with this White House. He is known as a purveyor of fake and bias news, every time he has interviewed the President there has been problems cutting Trump off because he runs on and on and on. He was given 3 questions (when everyone else was given 2) but that wasn't enough. Trump moved on to other questions from other reporters. Acosta continued to refuse to give up the mic back to the intern for another reporter, Trump continued to tell him enough questions, but Acosta decided he was going to have it his way. He continued to go through 2 more questions until his pissed off Trump. Is this a press conference or the Jim Acosta show. Is this how we are going to handle a press conference now? We will all just sit around and let Acosta ask all the questions he wants. He knew exactly what he was doing as he does it with Sara every time she gives him the floor. You act like this is a single event and how dare Trump.
All of this is beside the point. If Obama is lying then let Obama be called out. Where did I say otherwise? Again, to be more upset with a reporter's tone of voice than the fact that you're being lied to by your own President seems off.
You said nobody but Trump has ever stood behind the podium and spoken with the the toxicity and flat out disregard for even the appearance of being truthful. That is certainly fake news. Acostas 1st question was Trumps account of the Caravan being an invasion. Trump said it was and Acosta said it wasn't Acostas 2nd question Do you think you demonized the immigrants Trump answered Acostas 3rd question Your campaign add had people climbing over the walls Trump replied Acosta trys for a 4th question but the President tells him enough 6 times while Acosta keeps interrupting him over and over Acosta refuses to give the mic to the intern Acosta 4th question On the Russian equation are you worried about indictments Trump answers and again tells him to sit down Trump takes a question from another reporter. While the reporter is asking his question Acosta interrupts yet again and Trump has to again tell him to sit down. This is the worst conduct from a White House reporter anyone has ever seen.
Find us a President that can accomplish as much as Trump has in 2 years and I am sure you will get the votes.
Even if it were, it's besides the point. You don't rationally excuse a current president's lying by citing past presidents lied too and you don't worry more about a reporters tone of voice or decorum than the fact that you're being lied to by your president. You are literally arguing in favor of the President being able to lie to you while the guy one post above me cries 'brainwashing'...
if a NFL or NBA player did what Acosta did to the female staffer to a Ref attempting to retrieve the ball from that player that player would have been ejected from the game and fined there is no accuse for what Acosta did and anyone defending him is nothing but a partisan hack
Trump's accomplishments... lol. The lowest jobs gains in 7 years and a tax break to himself that you're going to pay for. Setting the stage for the next mid east war and recession by taking us out of the Iran deal and deregulating... awesome stuff man. He did get some dead bodies back, not sure that's worth it. He also appointed a foreign agent to be out National Security Adviser, fired his own appointment to Attorney General, got his kid to perjure himself over a meeting with Russians, spent his entire term under FBI investigation,... the list goes on
as if people who are on the dole and wish for the dole to become more lavish and comprehensive care about job gains. who are you kidding?
hadn't a dam thing to do with the questions Acosta asked and every dam thing to do with Acosta putting his hands on the female staffer doing her job retrieving the mic to give to another to ask questions yah we know you want to attempt to frame it over questions to cover the fact that Acosta assaulted a young female intern
Yes, education is bad. Thank goodness you've not been brainwashed... someone has to make sure this country stays as uneducated as possible! Good Job!
Trump and Sarah Sanders are both big enough to be able to take it. They shouldn't be squealing because a reporter isn't deferential enough. They have a duty to impart information to the US people via the Press.
you doubting what a wrote? how many clips do you want me to post of players being kick out of games for just touching a ref
No, Acosta defended himself from this woman's vicious attack. Thank goodness it didn't turn deadly. Hundreds could have been killed!!!!!!
