So much for the fools who preach to us about fossil fuels causing global warming. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade was the chilliest in its 94-year-old history with temperatures dropping to 19 degrees by 11 a.m. local time. The prior record for the parade was 21 degrees, occurring in 1930, 1938 and 1972. “Providence, Rhode Island; Buffalo, New York; Hartford, Connecticut; and Bangor, Maine, are just a sample of cities that experienced their coldest Thanksgiving on record with temperatures as much as 30 degrees below normal,” AccuWeather reports.
WASHINGTON (AP) — As California’s catastrophic wildfires recede and people rebuild after two hurricanes, a massive new federal report warns that these types of disasters are worsening in the United States because of global warming. The White House report quietly issued Friday also frequently contradicts President Donald Trump. . Trump is correct to contradict.
Democrats in California are so brainwashed. They ban removing dead trees to save the spotted owl. They banned can control burning to save a snail. They brought about the hands off the forest policy to save money. For the last 30 years the forest have been filling up with the dead trees and uncleared brush. Exactly what we told democrats would happen in the nineties happened. Democrats blame the climate deniers for the fires and California. They blame the people who want to maintain the forest for its loss. I think America globalist democrats have much more sinister plans and know what they are doing a with the fires. Behind closed doors they celebrate burning white people out of California.
Meanwhile the rest of the Earth is running well above average. Just because it's cold in one place doesn't mean it isn't warmer overall. Let me show you how this works. Consider a square that is subdivided into 4 smaller squares. You can see that one square has a cold anomaly of -2C while the other squares have warm anomalies of +1C. Notice that the mean anomaly of the whole thing is (1 + 1 + 1 - 2) / 4 = +0.25C. That means square-D is 2x cooler than the other squares are warm. Furthermore square-D is 8x cooler than the whole thing is warm. That's right. The whole area has a warm anomaly despite a smaller subregion being substantially cooler. Code: --------------------- -A -B - - +1C - +1C - - - - --------------------- -C -D - - +1C - -2C - - - - --------------------- Obviously the Earth isn't a square. But the principal is exactly the same. You can divide the Earth into smaller cells of whatever size you want. You'll find that some cells are really cold and well below normal perhaps even setting record low temperatures while at the same time the entire Earth is above average. That's what's happening today. In fact, due to quasi resonant amplification of the polar jet stream one prediction of modern climate science is that the standard deviation of the regional temperatures will increase. That means the variability (with large differences in warm and cold) will increase. This all happens with the Earth being warmer overall.
IF Earth goes around the Sun enough times without hitting any rocks, it eventually warms to the point where there is no ice on the planet.
Why do people with the strongest opinions against global warming know so little about it? The OP doesn't even know the difference between climate and weather. How typical that such ignorance breeds such certainty in many who have no actual clue.
Global warming doesn't mean that you'll stop seeing record low temperatures in your backyard. All it means is that global mean temperature will increase over long period of time. And the increase won't be homogenous either. It also doesn't mean there will necessarily be less snow. In fact, all other things being equal it snows MORE with higher temperatures as long as the temperature doesn't hit the tipping point of 0C'ish because the atmosphere holds more water vapor at higher temperatures.

The scientific method and climate change: How scientists know https://climate.nasa.gov/news/2743/the-scientific-method-and-climate-change-how-scientists-know/
Yeah, thank you Captain Obvious. Everyone is already fully aware that the Earth has a history of rising and falling temperatures. What I was asking for was clarification on what you think are the circumstances and causes for the eras in which the Earth had no ice and will have no ice in the future. By the way, one interesting take away from your chart is that it was significantly warmer much further in the past when the Sun was significantly dimmer. How do you think the Earth got so warm when the Sun was 5% dimmer than it was today?
You should watch the show on how the Earth was formed on discovery I think but to make a long short of it was the Solar System was super full of debris and as the planet's cleared the debris the old fashion way and rocks became less and less. How do you think the ocean got here?
I didn't ask how the planet formed or how the ocean how got there. I have a pretty good idea of the scientific consensus on those topics already. What I want is for you to clarify you statement regarding what you think has caused to the Earth to be ice free (and presumably warmer) in the past. If you can't clarify or explain your statements just say so. You don't have to deflect and divert by bringing up unrelated topics.
I was pretty clear I thought. Earth running into giant rocks caused catastrophic events and exposed Earth to radioactive material. If you look at the graph that would be the dippy parts
Probably for the same reason the most people how advocate for global warming know little about it. You should realize that climatology is one of the most difficult and elusive sciences.
That wasn't clear to me at all. But, yes, I agree cataclysms (like asteriods, supervolcanoes, etc.) definitely explain some of the temperature changes. But they don't explain all of them. And by your own chart is about 13C cooler today than over much of Earth's past. This happened with the Sun being much brighter than in the past. And this cooling took place over many millions of years. That's not exactly what I would call a cataclysm. And furthermore, you're chart doesn't have the resolution to show the glacial/interglacial cycles of the past 1 million years. Those exhibited pretty substantial temperature swings as well. What caused those?
Says who? I can think other disciplines that are far more difficult and elusive. And just because YOU know little about global warming doesn't mean scientists and the rest of us are equally misinformed.
So sad to read threads like these. Yes, it was cold today in New York so there is no such thing as global warming. *boggle*
