Nobody is trying to "get" Trump. That thinking is 5th-grade mentality. Nothing is under budget yet as the wall has not been built and will most certainly exceed estimates which are deliberately lowered by Trump. Frankly, I support some wall in certain places along with other security, but not a wall installed in every open area. Technology, sharp razor barbed wire, drones, more border patrol, airplane surveillance, and more immigration judges and entry points.
I know statistics. Everything I said is fact. My understanding comes from years of training and study (this is what I do for a living). I've got the experience and credentials to back it up. The popular vote is nothing more than data. No conclusions can be drawn from it because it is not the system we use. Your ignorance of statistics is your problem, not mine. But go on and keep thinking that I don't know what I'm talking about.
The construction of the wall is a one time expense, that's not a money pit. After that you have maintenance. That is nothing in comparison to the things you suggested (like hiring more judges...yea, they work for nothing...good idea).
Because laziness and the unwillingness to take action isn't limited to the left. Plenty of republicans are to blame as well.
The billions of dollars needed makes the wall a money pit. A one time expense of 25-35 billion dollars as opposed to hiring more judges? Did you study math in school?
https://www.google.com/amp/s/nypost...bollah-drug-ring-to-save-iran-nukes-deal/amp/ Yup. If Democrats say they have the American people's interest at heart they are lying to your face.
Well it wasn't accurate because it glossed over the fact that illegal immigration from Mexico is actually in decline and any rise is being seen in people who have entered the country legally and overstayed their visas. It also avoids the fact that, in large part, Americans simply will not do jobs currently being done by illegal workers. I wish they would but many employers will tell you that, on the lower end of the job scale, Americans are simply unwilling to show up. It also presumes that businesses will move production from Mexico to the US. This has happened but in nowhere near the numbers needed to fund the building of the wall: "To determine which manufacturers are bringing the most jobs back to America, 24/7 Wall Street used data provided by Reshoring Initiative based on company announcements from 2010 through the first quarter of 2018. The 16 companies announcing the largest reshoring initiatives plan to bring back, add, or retain a combined total of approximately 73,000 manufacturing jobs." https://www.usatoday.com/story/mone...-bringing-most-jobs-back-to-america/36438051/ Nice but no cigar and who knows what will happen if/when we go into the next economic decline? Also note that for the first six years of those rises, Trump wasn't even in power so this has nothing to do with his wall. Let's also pause to mention that a lot of those reshored jobs were from China and have zero to do with Mexico. And to close with your first point: Trump can get Mexico to write a check directly to the US treasury and congress simply needs to appropriate those funds (and only those funds, per promise) to building the wall. Done deal!
EVERYBODY on the left is trying to get Trump and I will refrain from trying to insult you in saying so. They were to build the demonstration walls with the first batch of money and you complain they didn't spend it all. And they are not proposing a wall in "every open area" there are natural boundaries even in open areas and all those others means are to be fully utilized. Closing off certain areas with walls only means you have more of those means available where they are needed the most.
Since Dems are the only ones supporting sanctuary cities, arguing to provide illegals government ID's, and stating they have a right to vote, yeah, its pretty clear. If not, why is the party fighting so hard for these things.
1. Nobody said not to deal with Visa violations. This isn't nearly as big of a deal because these people are documented and had their backgrounds checked, do they are not nearly as likely to be involved in drug trafficking, slave trafficking, or terrorism. 2. I. Don't care how Mexico pays for the wall Why do you?
They think unless Mexico gives us a lotto size looking check like Saddam Hussein used to give the families of suicide bombers that trump is lying.
Dems in California support sanctuary cities and that is because of the rough manner in which Trump's thugs treated some of those immigrants. Maybe that has changed.
How about if Mexico sent us a plane loaded with cash like Obama sent to the terrorists. Then would Trump be lying?
You didn't just say hire more judges. You said a lot of things. The majority of the things you said are recurring costs that over time will far surpass the cost of the wall. Care to do the math? Let me know how many judges, border patrol, etc etc etc you want and we'll see how long it will take. And because more people will get into the country without the wall we'll also have to figure in financial burden of having more illegals collecting various forms of government assistance. Don't forget that cost. Here's some quick math: 1000 border patrol at a total compensation package of $100k per year is $100 million per year. That's for a measly 1000 border patrol agents. Now try to factor in all the other nonsense you listed (unless you think judges, barbed wire, and air patrol are free).
But it is real. It is a known quantity. And it could be the deciding factor and the electoral college could be abandoned to make it so. And I advocate abandoning the electoral college and relying on the popular vote.
Obama didn't send cash to terrorists. Bush may have. He sent pallets of untraceable greenback currency to Iraq and lost track of it, -as planned.
