Border patrol are a bunch of sadistic morons, and Trump is responsible.

"The U.S. Border Patrol says a 7-year-old girl who died while she was in custody appeared to be in good health when she was first detained along a remote stretch of the U.S.-Mexico border.

Border patrol claims she was fine when she was in good health when she was first detained.
Stop making excuses that the US government made the right calls, when they failed from the start.

It's a loose diagnosis, based on the presentation observations available. She could also have been suffering from a secondary bacterial infection (which will often produce very high temps in children).

You're not going to die of dehydration in 8 hours at a border patrol facility.
Several months on the road in the elements will do it to you though, and if you end up in the border patrol facility after all that then that's where you're going to die.
The damage would mostly be done at that point too, organs would be shutting down by that point before she even got into custody.

nope, absolutely wrong...often someone suffering from dehydration won't even realize it's happening until they collapse, even healthy adults...

I've seen a few videos of border patrols immediately handing out water to people they catch, who knows if that happened in this instance.

8hrs i would think adequate time period to save someone from death by hydration...my daughter was put on IV immediately in the er and she recovered by morning

They gave her an MRI when she arrived? Should that be standard procedure? Millions of Americans legally here can't afford such a procedure, but we should do it for illegals?

Stop using a 7 year old child's body as a political football; it's disgraceful.

It'll never happen but this is why support open borders. At the very least the people responsible should be held accountable but they won't.

As stated: This girl didn't catch dehydration at the border patrol facility. That is not a condition that occurred there. To be so dehydrated that she died in 8 hours of shade etc at a border patrol facility she'd have had to have been already almost dehydrated to death. When you get past a certain point with dehydration there is no return. Your organs are damaged too severely to bounce back. The border patrol didn't place her in that condition, her parents did.

More than eight hours later, the child began having seizures at 6:25 a.m., CBP records show. Emergency responders, who arrived soon after, measured her body temperature at 105.7 degrees, and according to a statement from CBP, she “reportedly had not eaten or consumed water for several days.”

She had consumed no water for several days, walking around in the desert in the winter when the air sucks the moisture off of you.

Your daughter wasn't missing DAYS worth of water, I guarantee you. I have also had minor dehydration treated at the hospital. I have not had "wandering the desert for days with no water because my parents are recklessly irresponsible" dehydration treated.

Children often don't present with symptoms of shock until they're about to die. Its a unique documented feature about their anatomy.

She also apparently had septic shock. She wasn't going to survive. Her parents killed her.

having seen it firsthand an untrained person may not notice, the child will be appear to be sleeping...that's why I was fooled and not too concerned, after a few hours my daughter wasn't waking up so i took her to a medical clinic where I was told "take her to the ER now!"... ER staff were waiting when we arrived...

soooooo wrong, my daughter was ill overnight, dehydration took place in less than 12 hrs she was never in the sunlight....if the border security said she was fine when apprehended then she had time to be assisted, 8 hrs to be exact...now do I believe they willfully ignored her plight, no...but that doesn't mean there's an excuse for border security not to have trained medical assistance on hand...

And your daughter suffered from a mild form of dehydration which while somewhat dangerous was not anything like what she'd have experienced for days in the desert without food and water.
Her dehydration would've been far more progressed than you are familiar with.

This is why we've been telling them go home we're full. We don't have the manpower to handle them coming en masse in waves like this. They're coming at their own risk. If you or I took our kid into a situation half so dangerous, we'd get TPRd.

Correct. Dehydration, ie low intravascular volume is common in sepsis due to capillary leakage from the inflammatory response caused by the infectious pathology. If the child died 8 hours after detention, this tells me that the child had a late stage sepsis by the time she was detained. A glass of water she does not need. She needs an intensive care unit, a critical care team, a ton of IV fluids, pressers, broad spectrum antibiotics and likely blood products. This, just to keep her alive until they can find the cause.

I don’t defend Don, but this type of news disgusts me. It’s bull****.

Survival by sepsis is early detection, early antibiotics. This was late game, survival was far from guaranteed.

There are different levels of dehydration. A sick child can become dehydrated due to vomiting or diarrhea. It is not uncommon. Knowledgeable parents will force their children to drink pedialyte or sports drinks to counter this. If you don't your child can end up in the hospital.

Severe dehydration, occurs when someone is deprived of fluids for days. When this occurs, organs and the bodies immune systems start to shut down. When this occurs, it is not easy to reverse and is fatal much of the time. From what I have read, it appears this girl's systems had been shut down for days. Her chances of survival were next to nill, no matter what the agents did.

MRI? She didn't die from cancer. Pinching the skin and look if it reacts badly when released will do.
