What if the border wall isn’t effective?

I'm liking this idea! Just leave out the wall.

 

No, illegals can’t legally get jobs, and are subject to deportation. Never a good idea to come here illegally...a hard and scary life

 

Then approve the funds

 

Hopefully not many..walls discourage that type of behavior

Interesting. I have a friend who came here illegally at the age of 10. She graduated high school, served four years in the military (including a tour in Iraq), used the GI Bill to go to college. She now has a good job, a home, a family and is a tax paying citizen. I would trade anyone neighbors in the crap hole town I live in for someone like her.

 

It is not the wall but what is on the other side of it. No one wants to climb on to a freeway. Many want to climb into the US.

Why wouldn't it be effective? Climb a 30ft ladder on one side, navigate razor wire and other wall top barriers and climb down another 30ft ladder before the sensors you set off hail the Border Patrol. Good Luck.

And I thought the number of people climbing over freeway wall versus those climbing over a border wall was also a comparison.
Freeway wall: 7 graffiti artists, 1 drunk and 2 kids after baseballs.
Border wall: 7893 men, women and children yearning to breathe free.

The 5 bill will be spent with American labor and american material. I never heard trump say one bad thing about legal immigrants, you take what he says about illegals and apply his same thoughts to legal immigrants who were vetted during thier wait on the list. That is not fair on your part.

Economic deportation is the only effective means of solving the problem. When the previous administration;s immigration office went after employers who hire illegals all we heard was a bunch of bleeding hearts because some families were going to be broken apart, well if they did not come illegally they would never be broken up. So economic deportation was curtailed with just token busts once in a while since.

A national ID card that must be presented at job hiring or voting will also help. This will also solve the issue that many on the left have with the repubs trying to make it difficult for the poor to register and vote.

 

Like I said all we got was a stretch of sidewalk that nobody walks on. A total waste.

 

Trump should not give in and keep the government shutdown.

These posts appear contradictory to me. What is it you are saying that I am not understanding? You indicate immigrants should enter the "correct ways" through "the door". Would that not make them legal if they came the correct way?

 

It would, not sure what you don’t understand? Come legally...be legal. The wall would help prevent illegals

 

I am sure they were plenty of good jobs done, the other town got a couple of small bridges fixed that needed work,

If it were a well designed wall, common sense would say it would at least cut down on numbers, compared to no wall. I am not at all sure just how smart these so called experts are, and if they have their own agendas.

If walls do not work, then all of our rich elites need to get rid of theirs surrounding their compounds. Right? Why waste their money. ha ha

I think that a wall is only a part of the solution though. Going after employers, making the punishment harsher, along with welfare reform to get rid of that carrot must all work together to bring some decent control of illegal immigration.

Walls around prisons do not work either, I guess. ha ha. So get rid of them.
