Exactly.
Trump's wall is a stupid idea on a a cost-benefit basis. That doesn't mean that walls / fences / barriers / obstacles are not a good idea on some stretches of the border. They are a good idea and have been implemented. Including, as you point out, by Obama.

But what Trump wants is just stupid. Comparing it to a wall around a private home is juvenile.

The first thing I'd do is put locks on my doors. They're especially effective when you're not home.

 

I'm still waiting for a photo of Obama's house showing this new 10 foot wall that was built. I see a three foot wall. Perhaps Melania told him that 3 inches is 10 inches so as not to hurt his feelings

 

The Obama wall is for privacy since oglers want to have access to a very popular family. Trump either knows this or he just plain stupid. Ironically, there is no reason for Ivanka to have oglers around her house.

 

Private property vs non-private property, for one. This used to be something conservatives were keen on.

I'm saying people can build a wall around their private property if they want. Building one along the entire southern border is a monumental money pit and one that requires massive government confiscation land grabs of said private property.
