If the only acceptable number of firearm-related deaths is zero, then the number will always remain unacceptably high. Therefore failure is the only achievable outcome. Therefore there is no point in even bothering to try and reduce the number, as it will never be considered acceptable. It is nothing more than a futile waste of finite resources, and ignores the problems that actually can be addressed.
That's a nice appeal to ignorance -and- appeal to emotion you have there. Nothing like standing on the bodies and bathing in the blood of the innocent to push an agenda.
25,000 of these people chose to die - how do you suggest gun control would reduce this? For every gun used to commit murder in the US, >10.8 are used in self-defense For every gun use to commit suicide n the US, >4.4 are used in self-defense How do you suppose gun control would reduce this? Simple: Our constitution is set up so that it can never be hard for the law abiding to exercise their rights.
Wouldn't locking up all males 15-29 in reeducation camps have a positive influence on reducing gun deaths? Why don't we do that? It's unconstitutional to require a permit to exercise a right.
Ha ha I just said you guys live in another world.......and you proved it. You’re pretending to bring the firearm related death rate to zero....and You’re doing no such thing to support it....to the contrary. You guys are laughable in a very serious situation. In the United States, the death rate from gun homicides is about 31 per million people — the equivalent of 27 people shot dead every day of the year. That doesn’t sound like zero. Like I said, you live in another world.
Now you appear to be on the side of women having no control over their own body after they’ve been raped or are in fear of their own life ? The rights you flap your gums over in owning a gun, you now deny greater rights of personal bodily safety and care over a woman. Typical .hypocrites showing false concern about the lives of the unborn , but as soon as they are school aged, their slaughter is just another exercise in gun rights.
Those kids would have not been killed had the police in Broward/Palm Beach done their jobs. The boy was arrested for making death threats (using a gun) against one of the children of the people who took him in. The police didn't pursue this. He should have been in jail at the time of the incident. Had he chosen a gasoline bomb over a gun, he could have killed many more kids.
The law governing the purchase of firearms is already very strict. What are we supposed to concealed carry, shotguns? Here's an idea: instead of focusing on a tool, how about actually prosecuting criminals who do violent things instead of dropping the charges?
Says the guy from the country now trying to control knives. Next up, finger nail clippers and screwdriver control.
Handguns would take a long time to disappear under his unconstitutional model (the SCOTUS ruling in Heller expressly said that handguns are protected by the 2nd Amendment). My newest handgun is over 20 years old, and still functions perfectly. My oldest is from the early 1970s.
SCOTUS later elaborated the meaning of that protection of Heller in Caetano v Massachusetts: "The Court has held that “the Second Amendment extends, prima facie, to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding,” District of Columbia v. Heller"
Was it not yourself who stated in this discussion that zero firearm-related deaths would be acceptable? Is that not the same thing as saying any number above zero is not acceptable?
I've got WW2 era firearms that I still shoot. So yeah. His belief that guns can't be manufactured is also erroneous. If there was a sudden reduction in firearms, cad/cam and 3d printing firearms would create a huge black market for criminals.
Never said any such thing, I try not to talk in absolutes when it comes to statistics . You’d always be wrong
As I mentioned before.. If a net 1000 guns disappeared each day from the US, in 500 years, we'd still have 175,000,000 guns.
They always operate from the "I wished them into the cornfield" model, so I just go with it. Using math and logic on them makes them skittish and uncomfortable. Not to mention, we know that before there were firearms, the worlds was a peaceful place.
All men and women have empathy. But iits as meaningful for those they don’t know, not just for those they do. When it’s personal, everyone is a liberal, even our gun rights friends.
The old, “ it’s too late to do anything about it “ syndrome. Global warming deniers use that one too. There are tens of thousands of highly regulated full autos out there that are seldom if ever used by any criminal or crazy. Regulation works regardless .
