Actual mental health professionals don't consider transgenderism, drag queens, or homosexuality to be a mental illness. Social conservatives have tried rewriting things to force this to be the case, but they have failed. Turns out you can't just make up mental illnesses to silence folks. Also, this was at a public library, not "our schools."
You obviously did not read the link because the following was quoted directly from the book: "Captain Hook famously chastises first mate Smee for ‘prancing like a Spanish homo’.
By the way, for those who don't know it, ancient pagan Pan cults featured much dancing, drinking, hallucinatory drug use, and sexual deviation along with phallic worshipping. Thus, Pan [the pagan goat god - goats have hooves] did represent (among other things) homosexual conduct. I realize most of you were not English majors like I was so this is something most of you never heard or read about. For some literary scholars this is well known. See, http://researcharchive.vuw.ac.nz/xmlui/bitstream/handle/10063/3367/thesis.pdf
I don't see how Pan was more associated with homosexuality than most other Greek gods. Apollo was probably even more associated with homosexuality and he represented the pinnacle of restraint and moderation. I was an English major myself and particularly focused on the Greeks.
At the time these images were produced the term ‘homosexual’ would have had no meaning. It’s a relatively new invention. Sadly, as dear Oscar W warned us of another matter, attaining a US English major is nowadays no longer a guarantee of respectability.
Of course trannysm is a mental illness, when they look at their bodies and think they're something they're physical not, what's making that choice, their kidneys or their brains? As I said before, people who commit suicide have mental problems they can't over come and the Tranny suicide rate is what, 40%??? So now I'm going to ask this question for the 3rd or 4th time in a week: If a person believe s/he is a dog, cat or was abducted by space aliens, does that person have a mental issue or is that person perfectly normal?
Not according to those who actually work in mental health. Sorry. And their suicide rate goes down when they are accepted and supported. Funny that. And you'll hear for the 3rd or 4th time this week, or probably more, that you are trafficking in straw men.
Why do you need people not to be opposed to homosexuality? People are free to dislike whatever they want to dislike, and they're also free to teach their kids to resist whatever they feel is not beneficial to young minds.
I did not say he was. Consider Ganymede who was kidnapped by Zeus and stood by his side pouring wine for his pleasure. There were also Orpheus and Dionysus as examples.
Link me or you’ll be considered CNNesque. And what straw man? A person can believe he’s one thing and you’ll go all in on it, but when it comes to dogs and cats then it’s a straw man argument.
In those days the term "invert" was more widely used among medical practitioners to describe the condition. I'm sure that if Oscar W wanted a major he would have preferred Socrates who initially practiced but later condemned pederasty.
Don't mean to bore you with stats as I'm sure you'll just blow them off. Stacked deck Psychologists say transgender people often face what feels like a stacked deck against them. The disapproval and confusion of friends, family and people around them creates a burden of stress. Many trans people fear for their safety because of the threat of anti-transgender violence. Furthermore, many report having trouble finding and keeping jobs because of their transgender status. https://www.livescience.com/11208-high-suicide-risk-prejudice-plague-transgender-people.html

Yep, no mental health issues other than all the problems they’re having which causes them to see mental health professionals. Anti tranny violence? Give me a friggin break. Why do you pets always seek to be members of the victim class? Have you ever been to a shrink? I haven’t. Living outside of normalcy is not normal.
You realize that is a story published by livescience, yes? Your favorite word on the subject. Science. Do you always got to make a post about the person instead of the topic? That is a sign one has no position.
I don’t have a position? Biology, chromosomes and a penis, that’s all settled science. Feelings change with the wind.
You guys have called folks like me racists, bigots, homophobes, haters, islamophobes, misogynists and traitors. Do you see us calling ourselves victims or committing mass suicides?
Bullies usually don’t They inflict suffering on others Thankfully society is beginning to tire of tolerating it
