You are completely avoiding my point that these weapons are used by armies around the world. That there is a difference between full and semi, is known. Soldiers still use semi often enough... in warfare. And so you have to do better than to argue why a civilian must be able to have a weapon meant for war.

They aren't the same weapon. The military version has select fire and the civilian rifle is semi auto only. Been that way since Tommy guns and BARs were used by gangsters like Bonnie and Clyde but they used them on full auto.
