And why would you think people who don’t have your faith would not? That is pure prejudice

    Slavery ok
    Exodus Chapter 21, verse 20:

    • If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished, but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property.

That doesn't account for what Matthew 25 states that Jesus said.

It seems quite clear from that chapter that sola fide does not mean you get a pass on your behavior.

It's consistent that there is an absolute requirement for acceptance of Jesus as ones savior, and that one must then walk the walk.

After all, evil subsequent behavior is a denial of Jesus as per Matthew's testimony concerning what Jesus said.

Acceptance of Jesus, conversion to Christianity, isn't fire insurance. It is a rebirth - a complete reworking of ones life.

That isn't implied by what he said. He's addressing the life of a Christian.

There certainly are good non-Christians - a different topic.

I think the issue has more to do with the attitude of Jesus toward those who become Christians but whose lives continue in a direction that doesn't show it.

    Matthew 25 is serious.

Would an early American be punished for killing a slave?

    Sexism at its finest!

    1 Timothy 2
9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,
10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
11 A woman[a] should learn in quietness and full submission.
12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.
13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve.
14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.
15 But women[c] will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.

People without faith can an certainly do do good deeds but they do them for no eternal value because we cannot do enough good to overcome the evil that we do.

The bible shows the science, culture, etc. of the time.

On such topics, one can't really expect Timothy in year ~0 AD to be better than America was in the 1800's.

I DO find it interesting that Timothy would suggest Adam wasn't deceived in the Eden allegory.

    Remember your destiny =

    Isaiah 14:1-2 (RSVCE) =
The Lord will have compassion on Jacob and will again choose Israel, and will set them in their own land, and aliens will join them and will cleave to the house of Jacob. 2 And the peoples will take them and bring them to their place, and the house of Israel will possess them in the Lord’s land as male and female slaves; they will take captive those who were their captors, and rule over those who oppressed them.

OK, so an Israelite projected great victories for Israelites.

And, you claim he was talking about thousands of years in the future?

    A prayer for victory =

2 Esdras 6:55-59 (CEB) = 55 “I have said all these things before you, Lord, because you have said that you created the oldest age[a] for our sake. 56 You have said that the other nations born of Adam are nothing, that they are like spit, and you have compared their abundance to a drop from a pitcher.57 But look now, Lord! These nations that are valued as nothing rule over us and devour us,58 while we, your people, whom you have called your oldest offspring, your one and only child, those who are zealous for you, your dearest ones, are handed over to them. 59 If the world was created for our sake, why don’t we possess our world as an inheritance? How long will this situation last?”

That really speaks quite positively about people without faith that they do good deeds and don’t do them for “eternal value”

I'm mad and I'm going to be a meanie =

Zephaniah 1:2-3 (ERV) = 2 The Lord says, “I will destroy everything on earth.[a]3 I will destroy all the people and all the animals. I will destroy the birds in the air and the fish in the sea. I will destroy the evil people and everything that makes them sin. I will remove all people from the earth.” This is what the Lord said.

    Leviticus echoes the Exodus event.

It states the requirement of God to support immigrants and treat them as equal, as God's people were also immigrants from the land of Egypt.

Remember 2 Kings 18:27 (CEB) when you get hungry and thirsty =
The field commander said to them, “Did my master send me to speak these words just to you and your master and not also to the men on the wall? They are the ones who will have to eat their dung and drink their urine along with you.”

They don't make movies like this anymore.

2 Maccabees 14:41-46 (CEB) = 41 When the mob was about to take the tower, forcing open the door of the courtyard, they commanded that the door be set on fire. Razis was surrounded on every side, so he fell on his own sword.42 He wanted to die bravely rather than fall into the hands of sinners and suffer outrages unworthy of his own high birth.43 But the blow didn’t strike its mark because of the haste of the struggle and the surge of the mob through the doors. Running with honor out onto the wall, he courageously threw himself down into the mob.44 When they suddenly drew back, a space opened up, and he landed in the middle of it.45 While still breathing and burning with anger, he rose up, ignoring the gushing blood and the terrible injuries, and made his way through the crowd to stand on a pile of rubble.46 Entirely drained of blood, he tore out his intestines, took them in both hands, and threw them at the mob. As he did this, he called out to the one with authority over life and spirit to return his insides to him, and in this manner he died.

if you only want pro-christians to respond, then you best go to a Christian only board

I won't deride the bible, just post quotes from the bible itself

    http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Chronicles+15:13&version=KJV

    2 Chronicles 15:13

    King James Version (KJV)

13That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

Remember, the writer said that the Bible was just a story meant for entertainment =

    2 Maccabees 15:37-39 (CEB) =
"37 After things turned out this way with Nicanor, the Hebrews controlled the city from that time on. So at this point I will stop.38 If the story was told effectively, this is what I wanted. But if it was told in a poor and mediocre fashion, this was the best I could do. 39 Just as it is harmful to drink wine or water alone while wine mixed with water is delightful and produces joy, so also may the writing of this story delight the ears of those who encounter this work.

    The end."

Why are you relating Matt 25 to Sola Fide ? Matt 25 is a direct contradiction of Sola Fide - which was my point from the beginning.

You said previously that you thought Sola Fide was what Jesus taught or did I misread ?

    One of my favorites

    Matthew 6:25-34

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.? Are you not more valuable then they?

27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

    Burn, baby burn =

John 15: (TLB) = 6 If anyone separates from me, he is thrown away like a useless branch, withers, and is gathered into a pile with all the others and burned.
