Good God. We have a 5-year-old child in the Oval Office. https://www.washingtonpost.com/weat...e-chart-was-it-cover-up-alabama-twitter-flub/ On Wednesday, it appears the White House attempted to retroactively justify a tweet that President Trump issued over the weekend in which he warned, erroneously, that Alabama would be affected by Hurricane Dorian. In a White House video released Wednesday, Trump displays a modified National Hurricane Center “cone of uncertainty” forecast, dated from 11 a.m. on Aug. 29, indicating Alabama would in fact be affected. The graphic appears to have been altered with a Sharpie to indicate a risk the storm would move into Alabama from Florida. Here's the doctored chart: Here's an official White House picture of the briefing, showing the actual chart used -- and it doesn't contain the Sharpie extension. Trump claimed his briefings contained a "95% probability" that Dorian would hit Alabama. Except NO forecast EVER showed Dorian hitting Alabama, and nothing came with a 95% probability. Alabama was never included in any National Hurricane Center forecast cone for Dorian, though it was included for a time in a map on the probability of tropical storm conditions, but that showed a low likelihood of that outcome. Can we get this embarrassment out of the White House? Please?
Given the trajectory of the hurricane in that chart made by the NOAA, it sure does look like it would have hit Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi. So, what's your problem?
I tried to get this discussion going in my all-purpose hurricane thread, but no takers... This could be the funniest Trump administration story EVER.... This is classic.... 3 options... I'm not sure which one I think is more likely.. A. Trump did it.... The primary argument against that is I'm not sure he knows where Alabama is B. A staffer did it when he realized he had a chance to defend the President's misdirection on this topic C. Hell, there's only 2 options.... I was just trying to be nice... I saw the briefing live and thought something looked funny about that chart, but didn't put it together until MSNBC ran it @ 4pm... Here's another angle.... why was Trump even showing that VERY old chart today?? The storm is currently north of Jacksonville... That chart is almost a week old.....
Well, since Puerto Rico was looking at hunkering down for being hit by Dorian and all the previous paths included Alabama what do you know about what a hurricane can do?
So you are justifying this? Retroactively modifying for purposes of not looking silly? Don’t confuse come of uncertainty with a hurricane path.
You were saying? https://www.al.com/hurricane/2019/08/could-hurricane-dorian-make-it-into-the-gulf.html But the ones that are getting the most attention in Alabama are those that show Dorian crossing Florida and winding up in the Gulf of Mexico. If that was to happen a second landfall would be practically unavoidable. It’s certainly possible that Dorian could come Alabama’s way, but it’s still too early to have any certainty, unfortunately.
Oh, I dont know.... -- The part where Trump wrongly claimed Alabama was in danger, prompting the Weather Service to put out its own tweet saying, no, that wasn't true; -- The part where Trump kept insisting it WAS true, potentially confusing people -- making people in Alabama think they WERE in danger when they weren't, while potentially making people outside of Alabama think they were NOT in danger when they were; -- The part where, rather than admit he was wrong, Trump claimed his briefing showed a "95% probability" of the storm hitting Alabama, when no NOAA forecast EVER showed any such thing; -- The part where Trump-the-five-year-old DREW ON THE MAP WITH A SHARPIE to make it look like the storm track extended into Alabama -- When asked whether someone had drawn on the map, he disclaimed any knowledge of it. Take your pick.
Don't waste your time. In the world of trump brainfarts, this is just a blip. Kim jong un had him pegged perfectly from the start- a dotard, and Hillary had his basket of poorly educated worshippers perfectly named as well. I doubt they will ever man up to their huge mistake, and no amount of turd polishing can hide the fact that trump is the real OBAMA. One Big-Assed Mistake, America.

That isn't the Dorian storm track. That's tracking the likelihood of experiencing 40mph winds. And the chance for Alabama is less than 20%, even in that forecast. Try again.
Yes, that is the Dorian storm track, straight from the AL weather site, from 6 days ago. That's why the picture says HURRICANE DORIAN on it. Hence, the link to the ****ing website.
Many of the projections showed it going through Florida and hitting the Gulf. This is the usual 'two scoops' hysteria from TDS sufferers.
Read the legend. Alabama had a minor chance of experiencing the lightest tropical-storm winds. It was never going to get hit by hurricane-force anything. And nothing about it came with a "95% probability". And nothing really matches the puerile absurdity of DRAWING ON THE MAP WITH A SHARPIE to try to extend the storm track. Or releasing said puerile map on Wednesday, long after the forecasts suggesting even a chance of Alabama being affected had stopped being relevant.
Read the title of the article, then the article. Here, I'll help. https://www.al.com/hurricane/2019/08/could-hurricane-dorian-make-it-into-the-gulf.html There have been countless forecast model tracks for Dorian over the last few days showing the storm making landfall anywhere from South Florida to Georgia to staying offshore. But the ones that are getting the most attention in Alabama are those that show Dorian crossing Florida and winding up in the Gulf of Mexico.
Oh and by the way, that's not the map from 3 days ago. That's the map from last week. "Hurricane changes direction, leftists outraged when comparing new direction to old tweet, news at 11".
Someone drew on it with a sharpie. Seriously how did you even defend this? Just call it what it is! Childish
So you're saying he took a map that was printed the day before and changed it to reflect what it was at the time. What a scandal. Not even a day later. The time stamp difference is 6 hours. Next time he'll print a new one every hour to avoid leftist tears.
As he responds to the AL Dorian tracker with the article title of Could Hurricane Dorian make it into the Gulf?
Where are you from? How many Hurricanes have you lived through? You show zero knowledge of hurricanes and tracking of such storms.
