The bold is correct. But the cone of uncertainty for the most point meteorologists have down to a tee. Yes the size has to be considered as well. Being in the path of Dorian I was witness that these people were damn good at their predictions. Still doesn’t change fact on Sept 1. When President trump tweeted this. https://mobile.twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1168174613827899393 Alabama was nowhere near under a watch, warning or in the path. Rather than just easily claim the error, he chose to show a doctored map. You don’t see this as ridiculous?
That's fine... I think Trump essentially screwed up mentioning Alabama and you don't. But my question from my post on page 1 still stands... WHY was Trump showing the NOAA map from 8/29 on TV today? It's completely out of date as of 9/4 at 11am, when the center of the hurricane is offshore of Daytona or so... Certainly, the US president could get his hands (and sharpie) on a more current map??
Sure. Just like it shows in the purple area there was 100% chance of 39mph winds. That's the third non-conservative who can't read a hurricane map. This map in no way shows a hurricane that could affect Alabama, from a story suggesting that Dorian could land in the Gulf and hit Alabama. Not in any way.
A hurricane absolutely could have impacts outside its sharpie radius. The president was brilliant enough to fill America in on this danger. Bravo trump. Bravo
How would a map dated 9/4 explain his position on 9/1? He obviously was doing his, war on corporate news, bit.
Right, that's why they projected it to not land at all in FL and proceed up the coast instead 4 days ago. I mean none of them showed it going over FL and into the Gulf and hitting Alabama, the panhandle, and GA. Nope, there was never ANY suggestion of that ever happening. Orange man bad.
A new term for budding hurricane scientists... the cone of sharpie.... build the actual cone using useless years of science and models, then scribble in some random sized sharpie section "just in case"... Trump Science 101.... Which you take in the period right after Trump Math and Trump English... Maybe Trump University wasn't such a scam after all??
Why was he bothering to explain his position on 9/1? Today was supposed to be a briefing on Hurricane Dorian, which is still a threat to the USA, not a useless CYA exercise using a doctored map.... You people are as nutty as he is...
Everyone knows the only danger in a hurricane is wind. Flooding isn't a thing. That and no one ever suggested Alabama might be hit, except for everything from 5 days ago.
Yes the cone of uncertainty is extremely precise. They can get the cone of uncertainty down to a 2 yard radius 6 days out. They should really start calling it the cone of certainty.
Sharpie gate. He must have meant the other Alabama, because on the first there was no spaghetti in Alabama. Not even any sauce.
I’m telling you that the last three hurricanes I have been through. Matthew, Irma and now Dorian. They were absolutely spot on.
just admit it, Trump missed up, it's sad to see Trump supporters try to hard to make it look like he did not Trump has such a fragile ego, those around him try so hard to protect him from it
You do realize that the chart was made by NOAA and not Trump days before the hurricane was supposed to hit land? Meteorologist can only make a prediction and most of the times the predictions are not accurate. So, why is Trump faulted for looking at a chart made by the meteorologist at the NOAA and see the trajectory that was graphed by the meteorologists that looks like it will hit Florida and continue to Georgia and Alabama and Mississippi?
Remember Charlie? It was forecast to come right up Tampa Bay. Instead, it took a hard right into Charlotte harbor and followed the Peace river and continued on to Orlando, right where many from Tampa, had evacuated to, right into it's path. Where were you during Irma? It made landfall at Marco Island and made a beeline for us here in Arcadia. It was still a mo fo, after going 100 miles, over land. I'm told Charley was much worse here. I lived in Tampa, at that time. Here is a bit of Arcadia, after Charley. Between Charley and Irma, I'm surprised we still have lots of big live oaks.
Trump didn't draw up any map. Trump was presented with a map by the meteorologists from the NOAA which predicted the path of Dorian. Looking at the map it clearly shows that Dorian was headed toward the Gulf and not headed up the coast to the Carolina's. Try to keep up.
