It's difficult for you to understand, one's thinking on life things happens in one's early life?
Their hatred to USA likely came from growing up in SA. Likely do to them not wanting the USA having a base in their country. Afghanistan, the country, had very little to do with them. Other than a staging ground. One we let happen after the Russia conflict.

Our constant meddling of ME leaders. Over throwing gov'ts. Etc.

So, you are not in tRUMPs camp about we should not be the worlds police force.
And how about each region police their own area?

    No. The U.S. should rule.

    There can be only one.

So, you think the USA should be the Emperor of the world.
Every country and person should bow to the USA.

tRUMP is an isolationist and against being the world's police. I think I do remember you posting you stopped supporting tRUMP. But not due to those policies you are against, but because he's just a disgusting human being.

But no, the US doesn't need to be the sole provider and dictator of the world.
We can certainly be a leader and encourage others to our way of thinking, but force won't do that.
    Force leads to animosity.
Throughout world history, the big bad empire usually gets taken out when others revolt to their force.

Fine. You want other people and nations to bow to the United States that's your business. I'm no fan of such gaudiness.

No, it isn't. That is pure nonsense on its face. The House of Saud stands against everything Americans claim to value. And it severely undermines our security with its support of radical Islamism. It is easily the worst dictatorship on the planet.

No, it hasn't. Saudi Arabia wasn't even consolidated into a nation-state until 1932. It's basically a creation of western powers for purposes of corporate oil monopolies.

Except it isn't really their oil. They have no legitimate claim to sole ownership and enrichment for what nature has provided. The natural wealth found within those lands belong to all its inhabitants equally. Funneling obscene profits to one family who rules over others with an iron fist is just corruption and tyranny.

What's sad is your inability to see how pedantic and silly your original comment was.

That's a gross exaggeration. And if the House of Saud is as bad as you claim then please suggest who the U.S. should support in Saudi Arabia instead of the House of Saud.

Thomas Jefferson was the one who warned against entangling alliances. And the wisdom of Washington and Jefferson wasn't meant to apply to a particular time and place, but to all times and all places. It is a timeless wisdom crafted by men of vision and genius. Naturally, I don't expect a progressive like you to understand that. You would rather abandon American traditions and race into a brave new world created by the power of government.

Progressives always think the wisdom and vision of the founders is outdated. But the truth is, their wisdom was timeless. Everything they said at the time still applies today because they didn't base their ideas on the vicissitudes of technology or shifts in population, but on human nature itself.

Of course you want to ignore the origins of 9/11. Because it is yet another indictment of the failed interventionist ideology that you subscribe to.

Everything you support results in failure and misery for millions of people. You have no successes you can point to, only repeated and massive failure.

Outside the New Testament there is no such thing as "timeless wisdom".

Dude the country is run like a damn pirate ship. The captain gets the biggest cut but everyone gets something. The smaller becomes less and less as the population grows.

The oil shortage of the 1970's was precipitated largely by the Saudi monarchy, the same Saudi monarchy that the UK and the US have been propping up for decades. So just another example of the failure and the ineptitude of US foreign policy.

Iran is simply defending itself from imperialist aggression. Absent said aggression, there would be no threat to oil supplies in that region. Indeed, the supply of oil would increase substantially if Iran was allowed free access to international oil markets. Once again, we see the utter counter-productiveness and failure of US imperialism.

The country is a corrupt dictatorship that spreads radical Islamism all over the world.

The only evidence I need to know that you don't know what your talking about is that you keep calling me a progressive which most of the progressives on this board would have their feeling hurt by that.

Fact remains, they had all the information they needed in order to stop the 9/11 attacks. They simply failed to do so out of a combination of ineptitude and bureaucratic inefficiency.
