I get the cynicism and real talk? There is some truth to it. Trump ****ed up and Democrats have the moral and political high ground when they hold him accountable for the **** up.

Now, when they launched the inquiry, did they expect the staying power of support to build inevitably to a point where Republicans in the country had to agree with removal?

I bet many hoped for that outcome and it still might happen when we reach the public trial portion where everyone can watch these testimonies with their own eyes and ears.

But they probably realized that the most likely outcome is that Republicans, particularly the elected ones trying to keep their jobs in the Senate and House, would not because they are so tied to trump that abandoning him is another, more immediate, form of political death.

And so Democrats play for the alternative. Trump retains his authority, but he and the GOP are so damaged politically by staying so tied to defending him that they suffer massive losses across the board in 2020. Like you say, to keep and obtain power.

It just so happens that this strategy works because Trump ****ed up or was being "yucky" as you said.

 

There is no dispute to the timeline on that point. Congress was officially notified about the existence of the whistleblower complaint the day before the money was released.

So now Taylor perjured himself and Morrison testified today that Vindman went out of the chain of command.

Taylor will probably skate but Vindman, at the very least, will lose his security clearance and face a probable reprimand thanks to Adam Schiff.
