The most they give any politician is a couple thousand. If it was that easy to buy a politician I'd buy a couple myself. Lefties always get it backwards when it comes to RW donations. You see the NRA doesn't give money to any old politician and expect them to toe the NRA line. No, there are actually politicians out there who support the 2nd A and so the NRA supports them. The NRA doesn't get their power from donations, they get it from having the ability to fire up the 2nd A base to vote against any gun grabbers.

They are usually requested. To march in would surely result in sanctions from the world.

The world is not going to sanction us over a handful of special forces training local militias to fight drug cartels. That would be idiotic, not to mention that I don't think the rest of the world wants to be seen as supporting brutal drug cartels. The only reason mexico would not support it is because they have been so corrupted by the cartels. Time to empower the people of mexico.

I’m not a democrat. I have a permit and own several handguns.
In not against law abiding citizens owning and processing guns. I, like most conservatives, want to curb the free access to guns by criminals. The nra represents an uninformed minority

The US laws support free access of guns to criminals here at home, and we make it just as easy to sell guns to drug lords in Mexico.

Training locals is a good plan. I didn’t understand others to mean that.

But I think you’re going to have to repair your relationship with the country. Going after the supply is never going to work. Anyone who’s taking a simple economics course knows that if there is a demand there will always be a supply!

Mexico is correct in the United States needs to share the blame. The worlds largest users of narcotics is the United States of America. Simple root correct and corrective action should be applied here.

Hey, that's terrific appeal to emotion, but nothing more.

As numerous economists and smart individuals have pointed out during the last 50 years or so, those cartels would not exist IF the US ended its bloody drug war.

Without the drug prohibition, the foundation of which is various US statutes and US policy, the drug cartels would not exist.

So if Donald wanted to show us how smart he is, and if he really wanted to get rid of the cartels source of income, he would lead the nation to repeal the drug prohibition.

He is neither smart nor brave.

Rage against the machine sir, rage on.

I doubt there are many second offenders in Singapore.

"The possession, consumption, manufacturing, import, export, or trafficking of these and other controlled drugs in any amount are illegal. Persons caught with less than the Mandatory Death Penalty amounts of these controlled substances face penalties ranging from caning[9] (up to 24 strokes) to life in prison. Pursuant to a law change in 2009, cannabis (marijuana) and marijuana mixtures (diluted with other substances) are treated the same under Singapore law—the presumed intent is trafficking." Wiki

"I'm so sick and tired of your BS"

Yes- me too. Let's break down your links.

    1. New York times "Libya asks ARAB LEAGUE" to assist. They denounced US drone presence as a nation.
    2. Washington Post: ARAB LEAGUE ASKS for no fly over in Libya. The Libyan sovereign nation DID NOT ask for that as you are claiming
    3. NBC News: Once again- ARAB LEAGUE is asking for the no fly over. Libya DID NOT invite the US as you're claiming
    4. Reuters: ONCE AGAIN (LOL!) the ARAB LEAGUE is asking for the no fly over. The nation of Libya IS NOT inviting it

As we can see, Libya and Syria DID NOT invite the US in. Thank you for citing all of these sources that prove yourself wrong.

Alt left radicals like to post a lot of links in hopes that people will not read them. I thank you for that.

100,000 troops to secure our southern border.
Naval and air patrols to secure our coasts.
Targeted killing of cartel leaders using our substantial special forces capability.

We do not need to stop 100% of the illegal activity or kill 100% of the cartel leadership. We need to do enough damage to make their continued operations profitless, and too dangerous to engage in.

We have needed such a response for about 35 years. For those few of us who have been following the situation in Mexico long enough, who have awareness, the problem is this big now because it was been ignored, downplayed, rationalized away.

I expect absolutely none of this to be done. No recent American President, and certainly not Trump, has had the intelligence and the will to deal with this problem.

One thing needed is an automatic 20 years added to a sentence for committing any crime with a gun, for example, robbing a convenience store with a gun.

    Very much on topic.

    https://www.foxnews.com/world/mexico-guns-black-market-tepito

Other high-ranking officials also underscored that the majority of guns these days have been flowing not from the United States, but from the south.

“Most cartels buy in bulk, and the weapons are coming from places like Nicaragua and other South American countries. Also Asia and some from the Middle East,” a Tijuana-based police authority who requested anonymity explained. “And, another factor is the CNC machines making uppers in clandestine shops in Mexico.”

And this is one of the common things you can buy at your local gun store.

I guess the people better do likewise if they are going to defeat the cartels.

Even Senator Delecto has taken a stand.

In reality the Mexican drug cartels pose as much of threat to the USA as ISIS.

But the fulfilment is a ways off yet if nothing is done, and status quo remains.

True, most of the guns and the heavy weapons from from south of Mexico. Also from the Mexican military and police forces, either outright theft or via corrupt Mexican government channels. Also from overseas suppliers. Cartels are not getting rocket propelled grenades, heavy machine guns and automatic rifles from the USA.

The thing is that the USA is able to tell if a gun came from an American factory. When Mexico presents lists of guns to the USA to check their origins, they are presenting likely candidates. They are not presenting the vastly larger list of guns from other countries. So, the list is pre-selected and we return a high percentage of determinations that this already well filtered list of guns believed to be from the USA in fact were.

It is not a fair measure of where the cartels get all these guns.

Last point, cartels were pulling in about $40 billion a year last I looked it up. They can easily afford to buy anything from anybody from anywhere around the world. They do not need to depended smuggled American semi-auto sporting rifles..

I have advocated the use of 'anti-personnel devices' -- lethal and non-lethal, for a LONG time in conjunction with armed surveillance drones. Instead, we are getting a 1,550 mile-long fence that is already being breached. It is obvious that nobody in government gives a damn about what a nobody like me thinks... besides, somebody must be getting as 'rich as Croesus' building that stupid wall.

I lived on and near the Mexican border (El Paso, Tx). You can be certain that superior force and firepower are the only (ONLY) things that the Mexican government and the Mexican criminals pay any attention to. Trump could devastate the Mexican economy within 30 days (as I pointed out last March), and he could interdict any and ALL illegal invaders with the U. S. military.

Instead, we get what is turning out to be an ineffective 'wall' (that Mexico was supposed to pay for), and, we get the illegal aliens, the drug cartels, and all the welfare problems anyway. WHY ARE WE AMERICANS ALWAYS SO ENDLESSLY STUPID?!

The irony is that Mexico actually does have an excellent paramilitary police force, known colloquially as the "Policia Azul". They're tough, well-trained, and very well-equipped. But, sadly, because the Mexican government itself is so hopelessly corrupt, the dreaded Policia Azul do essentially little or nothing. Their big-wig commanders at some level are probably in on the corruption, too.... But, the potential to wipe out the cartels is definitely there. I've seen the Policia Azul -- those guys are good!

It's idiotic that we don't give the Mexican government all they need (and more) to destroy the cartels.

Send men, weapons, whatever it takes to kill every last cartel member. This is a f------ war that's crossing over our borders and driving millions of third worlders to the U.S.

But Washington is the most corrupt, evil, and incompetent city on the planet. Nothing will happen.
