I’m pointing out states can’t prevent federal law enforcement from enforcing federal law. States can choose not to criminalize or prosecute anything they wish. This has no effect on federal law, or the ability of federal law to be enforced by federal law enforcement.

 

No they are not.. state national guards are regulated by each state and independent of the federal government.

Look at it this way, if the United states was nuked , a little state like Minnesota can call on its national gaurd to launch fighter planes and bombers and attack Russia.

While subordinate to the US military, and only on their orders. A state can not unilaterally attack a sovereign nation without a federal declaration of war, or order from the US military.

 

The state of Wyoming could launch its nuke missiles at Russia if Washington was no more..

the governor doesn’t have any nuclear missiles. The US military does. All of which are regulated by the NRC, which is a federal agency.

The president has sole authority. No state governor can launch a missile, or attack another nation. They do not have access to the missile launch codes. Jesus Christ please stop already.

I frankly think it was a good idea. But, I note, that after the war, none of the new European states adopted it. Even if DeGaulle did create a Senate in France, it has not the same powers as does the American variety.

What is always key in any democracy is that the popular-vote determines fairly and honestly any electoral outcome. Which, as I never tire saying, the US has failed to do because it has allowed unacceptable voting-practices of elections for both the Executive and Legislative branches. (Aside from many PotUSes in history that once elected) have tried to pack the Supreme Court.)

Such manipulations are all very, very sad for the Greatest Nation on Earth. Besides, it is the type of people who run for office that matter as much as how the country is configured in terms of governance.
