I'm sure a payment plan is offered, somewhere, for those who believe that they 'deserve' things, even when they cannot afford them. After all, one can get a high end car for a measly $1500 down and a $599 per month lease....
Car salesmen joke about the schmucks who come in and say "Don't tell me what the price is, just tell me how low you can get the monthly payment."
My comment was quite apropos to the individual I was referring it to, maybe you need to research some before you make a statement.
yeah, I don't think the issue is the reality of 'affordability'. It's the Ad itself, and the 'image' it projects. It's just way to 'fake'. The black mirror analogy was perfect IMO. Starts out all perfect and shiny. Until the cracks emerge and the dark underbelly reveals itself.
And just like that, yet ANOTHER LW Irony Universe BANGS into existence! They lay out their own rakes... and then walk right into them. To the topic, it's amazing people don't realize this (maybe most here do), but there is a veritable army millions strong, comprised of LW "activists," hundreds of thousands of "indoctrinee in waiting" feminists doing "find the problem" projects in their Marxist women's studies classes, tens of thousands of public union shills in taxpayer funded PR departments (NEA/SEIU), Soros entity shills (pull up a list of Soros funded entities sometime, your jaw will drop), LW "woke" bloggers bitter about all the social media layoffs and drying up of the "toxic white male" net content market, government employees, contractors and grantees sitting on their asses waiting for their obscenely bloated pensions to vest, hoping their taxpayer funded grant to study why straight white men don't generally want to date trannies will come through. This ARMY OF MALCONTENTS swarms all across media every day threatening businesses large and small, individuals and other organizations with deplatforming, boycotts, lawsuits and even violence. This is simply today's iteration of that, it occurs tens of thousands of times a day, and one reason the damn exercise bike costs so much is they have to employ more and more PR and marketing staff, together with people like me, to handle it all. As far as what's offensive in the video? That's simple, the toxic male patriarch is chaining his chattel slave equivalent wife to an exercise device so that she can more aptly satisfy his disgusting rape-culture sexual narcisssism. Sound silly? It is.
You nailed it. That combination is enough to set off any lib. At least Jesus Christ or the Boy Scouts weren’t mentioned. There would have been rioting.
The root of the Peloton "controversy" is exercise-adverse fat women who know that even if you gave them a Peloton, they'd only use it as a rack to hang their jumbo-sized pants on.
You lost me on "dark underbelly"... Where is the "dark underbelly" of this ad? That getting up at 6am to workout sucks?? Again, no evidence that she's not doing this fully of her own accord... Is that the best sales pitch?? Debatable, but they don't sugarcoat it that to get the most of the product, you have to use it..
I saw it a couple of times before the backlash and saw nothing wrong and thought if a great Christmas ad and what a great marriage and family they must have. If Home Depot runs an ad showing the wife giving the husband a new drill is that sexist?
Each day, we adjust the thermostat on what is offensive. Holding the door open for a lady is offensive now! I got blasted for offering my seat to a blind person on the bus. Thats how I lost my job as a bus driver!
I did not see anything wrong with it either, and like you, I would not go out and buy one, I have an old sears stationary bike that other than replacing a pedal one year has lasted me over 20 years, and more than good enough for me, but anything that gets people to move more in this day and age, not a bad thing, if one can afford it and it works for them... have at it
eat the Trump diet and you may not get fat on the outside, but you could very well be skinny fat sadly I think many in both parties do not understand that fact diet is as important, if not more so then exercise, but both are important
I asked my girlfriend for curtains for Christmas and she point blank refused. A practical present is far better than one you didn't really want or need.
Actually I've had some indirect experience with this and its true, there are literally hundreds of little cliques of "outrager's" that wait for direction as to who or what to be angry with today, and a new update for tomorrow and the next. One of the more obvious ones was my brothers business put a DeSantis sign outside his business in 2018 (Florida GOP governor candidate) within 24 hours he was bombarded with about 15 angry phone calls the first day and 10 more the next, "your supporting a racist" demanding that he take the sign down, his business was also hit with a few negative google reviews the same day "I felt uneasy being inside the business due to my skin color, they looked at me like I wasn't wanted there" which he had to fight to take down. In the end, he had no choice but to back down to the pressure and take the sign down, he blamed it on a "rouge employee" who put it up but it was him. He made it clear that there is 1% chance that all of those phone calls were individuals who were all separately outraged over a sign and had the same message, there was a 99% chance that this was a coordinated email chain with 1 "activist" directing the other 2 dozen that there was a "bad guy" supporting a GOP candidate and he needed to be taken down. Result #1 of the "activist" attack, sign got taken down. Result #2, he won't even consider voting for a Democrat in the next several elections, he was pretty pissed off over their tactics. They think they are "winning" by shutting down GOP support, but in the end they are recruiting GOP voters with their activity, they all quietly just make their minds up and keep their mouths shut, then vote Red all the way down the ticket.
What you're paying for with the Peleton is the integration- the sleek package. Yes, I'm sure you could cobble a bike, monitor, and online entertainment together with duct tape, and make yourself a hillbilly Peloton, but it's still is going to be a far cry from a Peloton. Lemme tell ya, I sure do love my Peloton.
I'd get one if I didn't want to do a broad variety of exercise. My gym costs $30 a month, and that's dirt cheap given its quality, most good gyms cost FAR more, especially in cities. I spend AT LEAST $3 per visit to go there in gas, auto mtce and my own opportunity cost. Then there's the morons in traffic and the weather. All gyms are full of germs and all gyms have a contingent of jerks of various types. The showers at the gym suck and mine at home is fine. When they combine a legitimate exercise device with a sex robot, I'll get one. Looks like from the pictures you linked, that's just around the corner
Peloton just came out with a treadmill, and they're also broadening into other varieties of exercise. Gyms do suck, and that suckage was a big deciding factor when we got the Peloton.
