any chance that this is a Peloton self created outrage to get 10's of millions in free advertising? I've seen it brought up on major shows 4 times since Friday, with 3-4 minutes of airtime minimum. If yes, its brilliant!
Men make up a large portion of gym customers, and when somebody gets the bright idea to put other than -clothed- THOTs "riding" something other than a mechanical bike on those screens... "Honey I need to exercise again." "But Honey you've been on that thing five times already today! None of your pants fit any more your thighs have gotten so big, we can't afford -another- wardrobe this year!" She sneaks around to see what's up, what's on that screen? "OK ******* GET OFF THAT F-ING THING RIGHT F-ING NOW!" Maybe the feminists have a crystal ball and that's why the uproar.
The Peloton people certainly know how to motivate we despicable male troglodytes, I'll give them that.
Think of the Stepford Wives. A very pretty facade hiding a dark interior. It's a commercial so there really isn't one, but people think about that when something appears way to contrived and 'perfect'. Damn. Didn't even think of that. Great point. The Sonic movie 'redo' is another example of a potential advertising 'false flag' operation.
Black mirror? Have no idea what that is. The 'image' it projects, is exactly what marketing wants it to be... very fit woman, wants something even better to stay fit. Husband gifts her with what she wants. I don't see any dark 'underbelly'. Perhaps you have a different take on advertising then I do. Advertising is to make somebody want something (for whatever are their own reasons) enough to be willing to spend whatever it takes to get it. Period. Reading more into it than that, means you need a new hobby.
Ya, just a thought on that, get a small group of techies to make up some false outrage to draw attention to a product that isn't flying off the shelf as fast as they would like, not suggesting its likely, but I am suggesting that its possible, whatever it takes to get it "out there", no such thing as bad publicity right? <especially if you can produce your own fake outrage that makes you look good. I'm having a hard time recalling other examples, but along the movie lines, Black Panther, or Captain America being a woman <maybe a stretch on both of those, I dunno.
Black Mirror is a tv show kinda like The Outer Limits, or The Twilight Zone. Each episode is different, without any connection to the others beyond certain themes. Maybe The Stepford Wives would be a better reference? Basically the idea is that people are starting to see things that are 'too perfect' as cover for sinister dealings. I'm not saying there were any (it's just a commercial about a bike) but I can see why people would feel a bit of a 'creepy' vibe from it.
Nah, no way it's completely fake or at least not fake and the company complicit, a possible wee spin job but not fake. Company is financed by an A List of some of the richest PEs and VCs in the world, no way they'd allow their investment to be risked on that kind of shaky stunt. Moreoever, company likely going public next year, and would be forced to disclose that in their S1 or face the full corrupt wrath of the Complex plaintiff's Bar the instant the stock corrected even a little bit. They are already being sued for an outrageous amount over mere music rights, so they probably don't want any more of that. Besides, this is perfect LW outrage shill army fodder. OTOH, it could be a 4chan type prank/troll. They have been cranking that stuff up lately heading into the election year.
I've seen the commercial, and see nothing creepy about it. Meh, I suppose if one wants to over analyze TV commercials they can see anything they want. From what I've heard, the guy in the commercial has been accused of being emotionally abusive to the female in the commercial... my eyes are rolling so far back in my head on this one it hurts.
Yep, it does seem like they are buying a lot of broad coverage for a narrow market, however, from Peloton's website: FROM $2,245 OR $58/MO FOR 39 MONTHS. 0% APR. I'm thinking they know their market. I also thought Aviation Gin's pick up of the Peloton actress was genius. "Exercise bike not included."
I was thinking deeper, they did a normal ad, and maybe one "woke" person in the agency said "this could possibly be perceived in a negative way" everyone laughed at the SJW viewpoint then the real marketing genius in the room (the one making the big bucks) said "ya know, if we could somehow help fuel some sjw outrage over this thing we could get 20 million in free advertising, lets release it then get a some kind of negative campaign going that's ridiculous and see how it plays out" just a thought. Ad agencies get paid big bucks to figure out how to draw attention to their customers products. Perhaps this was intentional....
In this small town, I have repoed a friends bike twice from a thief who I sorta knew (of course he "found" it in a ditch) I wont anymore, he does not care enough to lock it. I have 2 nice mountain bikes I barely ride (one is well over one thousand dollars) the other is a rigid, 29 ss MB, 500$ But my recumbent is so comfy, they gather dust and get some oil on the chain, once in a while.
The problem is she is white! Or seems to be. If she was a black woman the left would be applauding a black woman with great work ethic and agency.
People need to take their outrage and shove it where the sun don't shine.. don't care what you're outraged about..keep it to yourself.
How about my outrage over every couple on television being interracial? Can I be outraged over ethnic cleansing? No. I have to shut my mouth regarding an important historical issue while the left cries about EVERYTHING.
