I don't condone dooming to unemployment those who can't sell their labor for at least $15/hour. It seems like it's hurting the most vulnerable. Not cool at all.
Nope. I never said that. I said that there are people who can't sell their services for even $15/hour. I feel as if making it illegal to hire such people is cruel.
While not impossible starting a business is nearly insurmountable for the vast majority of people. Few people will be bosses. Most will be employees. If you don’t understand that you have little business in this conversation.
You don’t suppose the things the poor might spend their money on would help them? Do you see no value in a smaller percentage of a person’s income going towards their rent/mortgage? The ability to purchase transportation that would improve their upward mobility? None of this holds value? An a capitalist society purchasing power is directly proportional to a person’s wellbeing.
Far better to trap people at a miserable 16k a year assuming they don’t find a single reason to miss an hour of work.
It would probably be better to release those who are trapped. They should quit working for their corporate enslavers and sell their labor directly to consumers. That way they could keep 100% of their labor value and not get ripped off by evil corporations.
We're not talking about essentials, and I'm pretty sure you know that. This is about 'Starbucks' spending .. as per the person who insisted an increase was important to facilitate that kind of spending. It's about consumables. The purchase of which is almost always unnecessary, and almost always serves to keep people poor. For all but the rich, purchasing power is not a product of income, it's a product of expenditure.
Once again, so no jobs is better then jobs? Did you ever find out yet how to google job boards and research it for yourself?
Wow, minimum wage laws came about around the world to keep minority's from working, everyone knows that even us deplorables No work= less children, that's also why abortion was made legal by the right leaning supreme court and also gay marriage They felt by making abortion legal they could wipe out potential Democrat voters and doing the same with gays
The higher the minimum wage is raised, the more small businesses fail, and the closer the big businesses get to a monopoly. Big companies with lots of capital can absoarb the increased cost of labor longer than the small ones. All they have to do is keep prices low until the smaller competition suffocates, then they can raise prices afterward because theres fewer options. After this happens throughout most of the markets, prices will have increased to the point that the wage increase is no longer beneficial ...and folks start demanding another. Eventually McDonalds will be the only burger you can get, and they'll still be making more off it than they pay their employees.
Its obvious, like you said. The only ones who benefit from a higher minimum wage is 1) the government in more tax revenue 2) big box stores who can smash mom and pop stores 3) some unions which is tied into there contracts The people who dont benefit from a higher minimum wage 1) everyone who makes $15 bucks an hour or less..
A lack of options. Working 40-60 hours a week making minimum wage, while paying close to 50% of your income on housing leaves you with few options to better yourself.
Again you lay out options that are neigh impossibilities for the majority of people. You have no business in this conversation.
