I'm torn. The "purposefulness" of his applying his full weight and the length of time he did it while Floyd was cuffed and on the ground of course is what makes this so egregious.

Here is Second Degree Murder in Minnesota. I'm trying to find a way it will be charged here. Was the officer trying to inflict pain and suffering, I think that is apparent. Was his intent to kill Floyd, that will be hard to prove. Was the officer "attempting to commit a felony offense" again I don't know that can be proved he was acting as an officer arresting someone.

609.19 MURDER IN THE SECOND DEGREE.
Subdivision 1.Intentional murder; drive-by shootings.

Whoever does either of the following is guilty of murder in the second degree and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than 40 years:

As used in this clause, "order for protection" includes an order for protection issued under chapter 518B; a harassment restraining order issued under section 609.748; a court order setting conditions of pretrial release or conditions of a criminal sentence or juvenile court disposition; a restraining order issued in a marriage dissolution action; and any order issued by a court of another state or of the United States that is similar to any of these orders.

We know he was cuffed from the other video. We know he was on the ground on his stomach under control. We know he went into physical distress in fact the police had called for an ambulance prior because he was having a medical issue. We can clearly see the officer holding him down with almost his entire weight on that knee for almost 7 minutes.

What we have not seen is what happened when they first took him to the police car to put him where the alleged resisting took place. But whatever resisting took place that fight was over, he was on the ground in their control.

Also, the Liberal Mayor describes the protests as "Extremely violent" and to call for peace.

I have no problems with this cop going to prison, if the jury goes that way. And I do not root for people like the deceased to be killed. Just do not waste my time wailing and gnashing my teeth over it.
