The CDC is the source of the information, not the NSC. The NSC is NOT tasked with finding out medical information. It just uses it instead of duplicating the research. The number of medical research doctors on their staff does not compare if they have any at all.

Just like the military can, does and will use information from NASA for their decisions. Do you really know what the NSA (security) mission really is ?
