Very intelligent people can also be dyslexic, which is not to imply that typos indicate dyslexia. That such typos go uncorrected is jsut a sign of laziness and Bill Gates liked to give hard problems to lazy people because they came up with innovative labor saving solutions.

I think the Chinese might find, like the Europeans before them, that turning Africa into a productive colony is a feckless mission.

It would be interesting to discover who the architects and structural engineers who built those skyscrapers are.

Dollars to donuts they are Europeans and Americans. Perhaps some Chinese, too.

yes, affirmative action for the smaller states wins in Presidential elections, that is the only reason Trump won - Trump is an affirmative action president

can you imagine the outrage if Obama lost the popular vote but still won... I can

Plenty of Africans in engineering. I know I work in the electricity generation business. Most of our top researchers and engineers are foreign born, many from Africa with people from the ME, India and Chinese.

Assuredly not. But then again they weren't meant to. What is your point?

my washing machine won't last as long as my grandparents washing machines, times sure have changed - are things getting better with time?

used to be people slowly bought things for their homes, now everything is disposable, and they have to keep rebuying those things all their lives

I think he was poking fun at your condescending attitude toward African abilities.

What's depressing is that much of the world economy has become dependent on people buying ever more useless crap.

It is not like the Egyptians were sub-Saharan Africans, or perhaps he was referring to the less impressive Nubian pyramids.

Did you know the Great Pyramid at Giza was the tallest structure in the world until the Eiffel Tower?

as people earn less, they buy more cheap stuff, it's sad that income has not kept up with the cost of living

Nope. They get paid the same according to their years of experience. You don't get to negociate your salary here. Every engineer climb the salary lader like everybody else.

Not where I worked. You got compensated according to your competence, not seniority except that F1 visas got compensated less because it was more difficult for them to change jobs.

No wonder your "top researchers" are foreign born. The best native born researchers could negotiate a better salary somewhere else.

But they don't, in fact they prefer the stability. You don't want people shopping for their next pay raise in the middle of a multi-billions hydro dam project. There are plenty of native born engineers also, also top of their class, and they work with each other instead of competing for a few $$$ more. Ain't multi-culturalism great!
