Judeo-Christian as an essential part of the far superior Western Culture is what I meant.

Genetic diversity is highest in sub-Saharan Africa, which is one way we know that's where anatomically modern humans began.

That is certainly true. But what I meant is that it is probably not what makes western culture superior.

IQ isn't based on your genetics or your inherent intellectual ability. Going to school and getting years of education is going to boost your IQ.

Racism is evil -- as many people have mentioned. Such accusation is also abelist. I am Autistic. Some people of all races and genders are low functioning Autistics.

All Humans are Created Equal! Sadly, people living in abject poverty and without access to education have both mental and physical problems.

They dont. They are inherently biased. If Africans made IQ tests Americans would do poorly.

There was a case of a foreign born student labeled educateably retarded by an IQ test as a child and put in short bus classes. After high school he got into college under open admissions but on probation. Made dean's list often always on probation. Graduated with honors still on probation for being retarded. He was one of the crusaders to end IS testing in schools.

It seems like there is more to it than that. If IQ testing is "inherently biased," why do Asians consistently beat whites? I find that puzzling considering a culturally biased test should give advantages to the people in the culture that developed the test. So in the US, African Americans should beat Asians in IQ testing fairly consistently since they were raised in an American/Western culture, attended American schools, and are native English speakers. Asians come from cultures that are radically different from Western ones and often have a language barrier. What is the "inherently biased" explanation for this?

When I lived in Japan, the Japanese put far more emphasis and expectations on education than Americans. School days were longer and it didn't end when classes ended. Failure was considered disgrace. That kind of focus likely has a considerable effect on testing scores.

Comparing Sub-Saharan Africans to others who have that kind of focus on education can have only one real purpose, which is too denigrate the Africans in order to promote the myth of superiority.

Genetics does play a role, but environment and genetics work together. It's kind of like growing an oak tree. The possibility of having a hundred foot tall tree spreading out almost as wide is dependent on the environment it grows up in.

disagree, it does not denigrate because they do hunter gatherer.

africans do not need a high iq for that like civilised people who work in offices and push papers. superiority is not a myth, there are superior people who have the military force to take what others have.

disagree, genetics make whites highly adapted to be superior in civilised countries.

they also make other races highly adapted to live in primitive countries, where hunter gatherer is all that is needed for evolution.

You cannot determine the role or genetics and the environment without actually studying it first. So what genes play a role in intelligence and what are the genetic differences across different regions?

Your argument was that the test was culturally biased, not that some cultures value education over others. So this current argument doesn't seem to have anything to do with your original argument on the test.

The superiority of having a focus on education, which is common to all East Asian societies, is not a myth. It is a fact of modern civilization, wherein success, and even just getting out of poverty, is highly dependent on education. The question is, to what extent is that inter-population "cultural" difference, like the IQ difference, in fact genetic? We don't know. But we will probably find out, and we should understand that we might not like the answer.

But in fact, it doesn't. This is one of the most well-established results in psychometrics. Testing kids in primary school and then again in middle age shows that the smarter kids got more education, but it didn't increase their scores much if at all, and the dumber kids got less education, but that didn't decrease their scores, either.
But which is cause, which is effect?? The longitudinal studies suggest that high intelligence causes high education rather than vice versa.

One factor that impacts whether kids are smart or not is the culture they grow up in and whether they were encouraged by their culture to prioritize education. You can shove a kid who hates school for extra years, but he won't learn much. Attitude matters too.

First of all, would you say that some people are born with certain abilities that give them an edge in areas like math, language, etc.?

Who decides what is on the test? Who decides what and how to measure when measuring intelligence? Should we see this as the only measure of intelligence?
